Job Description : The Building Industry Association of Washington (BIAW) is the voice of the residential construction industry in the state of Washington, representing nearly 8,000 member companies in the home building industry.We need a talented social media specialist to help drive BIAW’s communication strategy across all our social media platforms. This job is for you.Position Title: Social media specialistReports to: Communications DirectorOffice Location: Tumwater, WAStatus: Full-time, exemptSalary Range: $53,000 to $63,000Benefits: Health insurance, dental and vision (100% employer-paid) are provided starting the first day of the month following hire. Employer-matching 401K retirement plan, bonuses, ability to work from home 1-2 days/week, generous paid time off (PTO) and holidays provided.Closing date: First resume review starts March 18We’ll ask you to: Lead BIAW’s social media strategy, posting engaging and informative content consistent with both our brand and our strategic communications planDevelop a social media calendar with campaign messaging for multiple communication channelsUse strong editorial judgment and writing/editing skills to develop messaging, monitor platforms and appropriately respond to social media comments and messagesBe a self-starter, able to work independently and efficiently – but also collaborate with the team and others to promote the home building industry and our membersProvide communications support leading up to and when requested at board meetings and other events (some limited in-state travel may be required)Adapt and pivot in a fast-paced environment with grace and flexibilityDemonstrate an elevated level of attention to detail and qualityContinuously improve by capturing and analyzing appropriate social media data/metrics, insights and best practices, then acting on the informationKeep up with the latest social media trendsYou’ll need: Bachelor’s degree in digital communication, marketing or related field preferredAt least 3-5 years of communication or marketing experienceDemonstrated experience planning, developing, posting and monitoring content on Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest and other social media channelsExceptional consulting, writing, editing and social media content development skills, including the ability to create photo and video content at various member eventsProficiency in Microsoft Office programs and comfort using Adobe Creative Suite and/or CanvaExperience with native and third-party social media management and reporting tools (Hootsuite, Google Analytics, etc.)Familiarity with email marketing tools like Constant ContactA portfolio that showcases both your creative and technical skillsA learner’s mindset: attention to detail, great listening skills and an attitude of service to improve and adaptCreative thinking and innovative approaches to informational and promotional contentAbility to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects at onceStrong interpersonal skills to build trusted and respectful relationships with our members, local association peers, co-workers and othersA can-do, positive attitudeLevel up with these bonus skills: Experience working with non-profits, trade associations or residential home builders/remodelersAbility to use DSLR cameras for photography or videographyVideo production and video editing skills, using products like Adobe Premiere Pro and After EffectsPodcasting experience and proficiency in podcasting platformsSocial media marketing/advertising expertiseGraphic design skillsExperience with WordPress, user experience and search engine optimizationFamiliarity with Salesforce and database managementFamiliarity with Asana or other project management toolsThe selected candidate must: Have the ability to work occasional night and weekend hours, including limited overnight, in-state travelHold a current, valid driver’s licenseHave reliable personal transportation and vehicle liability insuranceThis job description does not cover every requirement of the job and is subject to change at any time by BIAW.
