Specifically, the department oversees human resources, risk management, performance management, and information services.Information Services partners with operating departments to find and implement technological solutions to best serve our organization and the community, while maintaining a robust infrastructure to support the City’s day-to-day operations. Information Services is responsible for the development, maintenance, and support of all facets of the City’s technology infrastructure, including computers, software, networks, telephones, data centers, and radios.The Ideal Candidate is self-motivated, customer service oriented, and a creative problem solver. This person will be responsible for day-to-day support of the city’s computer users, and must be flexible in working on a variety of projects and technical support needs. This includes supporting desktops, mobile computers, networks, audio/video equipment, and other related equipment provided by the Information Services Department. This person will have a customer service frame of mind and good communication skills, work well with others, and be a team player. This person must be able to handle and protect confidential information, as well as maintain and increase technical knowledge as required.Examples of Essential DutiesThe incumbent will be responsive to end user requests and inquiries that are conveyed via telephone, email, helpdesk ticketing, and/or face-to-face by entering, resolving, escalating and tracking tickets. This is primarily a call center support position, with extensive customer service interactions.*Assigned to service requests for assistance with problems related to computer hardware, software, peripheral devices, or audio visual equipment; performs remote desktop or on-site assessment to determine cause of problemsPerforms basic installation, operation and maintenance of computers and peripheral equipment; tests and sets up basic hardware and software configurations; performs basic maintenance and repair on system componentsUtilizes and updates system maintenance logs and other tools to prepare, track, and respond to service request tickets and work ordersAssists with routine system backups, upgrades and/or other hardware/software support activities;Connects computers to printers, scanners, personal digital assistants and other peripheral equipment; loads softwarePlease click here to review the full job description.Minimum QualificationsEducation: High school diploma or equivalent. College-level coursework (minimum 30 semester units) in computer science or other related field preferred. Associate’s Degree in computer science or other closely related field desirable.Experience: One (1) or two (2) years’ experience working with computer hardware including desktops, laptops, tablets, mobile devices, networking equipment, printers, and configuration of said hardware and associated software.License/Certificate: A valid California Class C driver license with an acceptable driving record required by time of appointment and throughout employment.SPECIAL CONDITIONSMust be able to respond to emergency services call out.Must pass a comprehensive background investigation.Supplemental InformationApplication and Selection Process: Application ReviewExamination(s)A written exam (Pass/Fail) is tentatively scheduled for April 15, 2022An oral exam (weighted 100%) is tentatively scheduled for April 26, 2022Selection InterviewComprehensive Background InvestigationAppointmentJob Type: Full-timePay: $4,068.48 – $5,451.33 per month
