Job Description : Surgical Scheduler Full Time Day Labor & Delivery
POSITION SUMMARY:
To support the Labor and Delivery Department and patient by providing services pertaining to procedure scheduling such as: scheduling, database management, patient/department support, pre-registration, and unit-specific tasks.
EDUCATION:
High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of formal business/medical training, including a medical terminology course.
EXPERIENCE:
OR secretarial background preferred. Computer experience (knowledge of Windows environment, Microsoft Office) and customer service skills required. Experience as a Business Associate and/or in a medical office setting preferred.
SPECIAL SKILLS:
Effective communication and writing skills “ ability to articulate and use proper spelling and grammer. Demonstrate typing skills and computer literacy. Typing/keyboarding 25-30 wpm at a minimum. Knowledge of medical terminology required. Good customer service skills (to include telephone etiquette) to effectively communicate and interact with patients, physicians, office staff, and personnel from other departments during day to day and stressful situations. Ability to work independently, cooperatively, and with minimal supervision with members of the health care team. Ability to use effective time management to set priorities, perform job related responsibilities and respond quickly to changing and conflicting needs. Attentive to details and the ability to perform work accurately, often changing from one task to another with loss of efficiency or composure. Effective critical thinking skills, i.e., analytical, problem-solving, decision making, prioritizing, time management, etc. Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
