General Functions
CITC’s Barista Apprenticeship Program is intended to offer hands-on experience in a high demand position through holistic training, development, and coaching. The Barista Apprentice will be actively engaged in this training, development, and mentorship. This position requires a willingness to learn, engage with CITC management and partner organizations.
The Barista Apprenticeship position is a paid 3 month training program for eligible Alaska Natives/American Indians with limited work experience. This paid apprenticeship may not last more than 12 months. The apprentice will gain work experience with a combination of classroom and on-the-job training. Successful completion of the apprenticeship will include a certificate of completion.
Duties and Responsibilities
Demonstrate behavior and work ethic centered on CITC values (Respect, Interdependence, Accountability, Resilience, and Humor).
Provide professional, high level customer service to all CITC staff, participants, vendors, and key stakeholders.
Display an eagerness to enhance knowledge and willingness to put forth effort to develop skills as outlined.
Actively participate in monthly meetings with the Apprenticeship Coordinator to co-design development, identify SMART goals and learning objectives.
Assist Coho Cup Manager with day-to-day operations, administrative duties, and special projects.
Act as a team player and provide support when and where needed.
Attend meetings and trainings as appropriate to acquire knowledge and skills relevant to the apprenticeship.
Organize and assist in implementing strategies for special projects.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Identify and make recommendations for quality improvements and process efficiencies.
Job Specifications
Demonstrated ability to learn and understand CITC’s mission, vision, and strategic focus areas including CITC’s ThriveAbility Plan, and incorporate this knowledge into daily activities.
Possess excellent oral and written communication skills, customer service skills, a strong work ethic, and a positive attitude.
Demonstrated ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from CITC staff and their partners.
Display great interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively and cooperatively with all management and staff of CITC as well as affiliated company employees.
Ability to exhibit a professional manner in dealing with others.
Excellent organizational skills and ability to think strategically, problem-solve, and exercise good judgment.
Ability to work independently as well as on a team and with minimal supervision.
Ability to work well under pressure and prioritize workload.
Demonstrate a high degree of sensitivity regarding confidential information.

Minimum Qualifications
Must be sixteen (16) years of age or older.
Continued employment is contingent upon completion of a satisfactory state and federal fingerprint criminal background checks.
