Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Registrar, the Data Control Clerk serves as the primary initial contact for students, faculty, staff and other visitors to the department. The position also performs routine and complex clerical assignments and administrative duties.
Essential Functions:
Acts as front desk receptionist. Greet visitors, answers telephone calls and email.
Manages the student service counter and performs the following functions:
Responds to inquiries regarding registrar operations.
Resolves problems and conflicts encountered by the students.
Maintains student files in BDM – Banner Document Management System.
Resolves routine problems and provides immediate assistance to students. Operates under the supervision of the director to interpret, apply and make exceptions to the university policy as advocates of student concerns.
Provides a full range of services related to registration processing.
Assists in processing transcripts, certification requests and grade processing.
Additional Functions:
Performs other duties as required.
Prerequisite Qualifications:
High school diploma is required.
Proficiency with computer applications such as Microsoft Word Power Point and Excel required.
Must possess strong communications skills along with the ability to work in a stress-filled and demanding environment, which includes interaction with a diverse student population.
Must also have the ability to deal with students and the general public in a courteous and professional manner.
A commitment to quality customer service is required along with the ability to follow the objectives of the student services mall concept with minimal supervision.
Previous office and customer service experience is required along with experience working with integrated management information systems such as SIS (Student Information System).
Knowledge of basic student accounting along with general computer literacy are required skills necessary to perform the duties and responsibilities noted above. The generalist is expected to be knowledgeable about university policies and procedures.
At the university’s discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
