Work hours will vary and will typically be between 2-5 hours per week, or more if providing coverage for the Psychiatric Advanced Nurse Practitioner. Pay is $60.00/hour+ DOE.The medical Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) primary responsibilities include providing outpatient medical care for youth in the behavioral health residential treatment program.This includes but not limited to seeing youth for medical care that can be treated in agency, providing treatment recommendation, prescribing medications if needed, and providing follow up care as needed.APRN provides referrals to outside medical providers as needed. Hours vary depending on how many youth need to be seen on a weekly basis.Provides coverage for psychiatric APRN when needed.Tasks may include but not limited to meeting with youth (in residential programming) for monthly medication check, providing psychopharmacologic management as needed, ordering and interpreting lab results and other diagnostic studies, participating in plan of care meetings and signing required documentation.Familiar with and adheres to standards and regulations as set forth by the agency, Office of Children’s Services, Residential Licensing, Department of Behavioral Health, the Joint Commission and Medicaid.Ensure quality measures and effective up to date documentation of client encounters are maintained.Duties are carried out in accordance with AK Child & Family policies, mission, core values, philosophy of care, and the principles of the agency’s Sanctuary treatment model certification.Also assumes additional duties as assigned.**All positions at AK Child & Family may have responsibilities altered during the course of employment due to agency imperatives.All employees with AK Child & Family are required to be in compliance with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid COVID vaccine mandate. The mandate requires that by 2/14/22, staff at all health care facilities must have received their first dose of a 2-shot series (Moderna or Pfizer, currently) or a single dose of a 1-shot vaccine (Johnson and Johnson, currently) with the exception of those that have sought and been granted an exemption to the COVID mandate. Staff must complete this step before they can provide any care, treatment or other services for the facility and/or its patients. By 3/15/22, all staff with the exception of those that have sought and been granted an exemption to the COVID mandate, must complete the primary vaccination series.BENEFITS: HEALTH BENEFITS: Medical, Pharmacy, Dental, & Vision – with HRA!Flexible Spending AccountDependent Care AccountGroup Life and AD&DLong-Term DisabilityEmployee Assistance ProgramOTHER BENEFITS: 403(b) Retirement PlanPaid Time Off (PTO) – 13 hours/month in 1st year and then increases2 Floating Holidays/year6 Observed Holidays: double-time pay for working on the HolidayBonuses: Longevity & ReferralEducational Support ProgramSUPERVISION AND COORDINATION OF SERVICESThe medical APNR collaborates with the Medical Director for nursing/medical oversight and with the Chief Clinical Officer for programmatic and administrative support.QUALIFICATIONSKnowledge, Skills and Abilities: The medical APRN must demonstrate the ability to work effectively with emotionally and behaviorally disturbed children/youth and their families as well as collaboratively with the Treatment Team.Knowledge/familiarity of Trauma Responsive Care practices, Adverse Childhood Experiences Study (ACES), and the Attachment, Regulation and Competency (ARC) model is preferred.Must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.Required to hold a valid Alaska Driver’s license.Verification of degree and a copy of the medical APRN license and endorsements/certifications is required.The medical APRN is also required to demonstrate an understanding and sensitivity to serving a culturally diverse/and or special needs population.Education and experience: Licensed as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Alaska, Pediatric Nurse Practitioner preferred.Current certification by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners or American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) certification is preferred.Current and valid license endorsement issued (including a DEA registration number) by the State of Alaska Board of Nursing authorizing medical APRN to prescribe legend drugs, control medications, and Behavioral Health Medication Management and Assessment skills.Experience working with youth with psychiatric needs in a trauma responsive environment is preferred.PHSYICAL DEMANDSMust be able to drive and transport students in AK Child & Family vehicles.Efficiently access AK Child & Family and community buildings for meetings and agency activities in order to perform all job responsibilities.Move quickly throughout living unit and outdoor area in order to monitor/supervise student activities if needed, legibly produce reports regarding students.Transport self within the Anchorage Borough to meet with schools, families, and other involved parties if needed.Job Types: Part-time, ContractPay: From $60.00 per hourMedical Specialty:PediatricsPhysical Setting:InpatientLicense/Certification:Certified Pediatric Nurse (Preferred)Certified Nurse Practitioner (Preferred)BLS Certification (Required)PALS Certification (Preferred)DEA Certification (Required)Work Location: Multiple Locations
