Job Description/Duties and Tasks:
Responsible for recording and reconciling all local fund cash receipts including the reconciliation of 4 major, complex bank accounts and the college’s investment fund (LIGP), for a total of about $23 million.
Responsible for recording Americorp and Chapter 33 wires, funds transfers between general fund accounts, Perkins fund accounts and federal fund accounts and posting information into PeopleSoft;
Recording AIS transactions and student financial aid payments and re-issuance of voided checks.
Accountable for the propriety and accuracy of 500-600 general scholarship accounts, Book and Access grants, DC TAG and LEAP grants, emergency grants, alternative loans, AmeriCorp and Barnes and Noble funded scholarships.
Responsible for the consistent, accurate and proper disclosure of all receipts in the financial statements and internal reports issued by local funds accounting.
Responsible for determining vendor compliance with the revenue terms and conditions of their contracts, and jurisdictional compliance with local government agreements to contribute local M&O and Capital Outlay funds to the college.
Prepare: monthly scholarship reports, grant reports, sales commission reports and local fund quarterly account receivable reports.
Supports college personnel regarding budget and account activity in AIS and supports students in the understanding of their accounts information in PeopleSoft.

Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

KSA’s/Required Qualifications
Required KSAs:
Working knowledge of advanced accounting procedures and practices.
Working knowledge of office procedures and use of computer hardware and software.
Demonstrated ability to analyze financial transactions for conformity with college procedures and VCCS regulations.
Demonstrated ability to guide others or independently handle one or more aspects of local funds fiscal operations.
Demonstrated ability to prepare financial reports and analyze accounts for variances.

Minimum Qualifications:
Associate Degree in Accounting or a related field; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience.
Some years of work experience in a fast paced environment of a similar field.
