Job Description : All Covenant House Alaska employees are required to have or obtain a COVID-19 vaccination as a term and condition of employment unless an exemption has been approved. Position Summary

The Development Associate at Covenant House Alaska (CHA) will serve as support for the Administrative functions of the Development Department as well as necessary support during important organization special events. Will work closely and directly with other CHA departments as needed support/cross-training as it relates to the administrative tasks assigned. This position is forward facing with; donors, volunteers, and the general public so customer service, enthusiasm, and an outgoing attitude are a must.

Essential Functions

Under the direction of the Director of Development, refine, create, and stage printed media through the use of creative software
Assist with photography, videography or the general creative needs of the department including but not limited to; events, social media, donations, donor visits, etc.
Provide administrative support to the development team, as well as cross-department in regard to donor reporting, general accounting, and other administrative functions
Through the guidance of the Director of Development assist in the establishments and maintenance of donor and public engagement as it relates to events, outreach, and digital / social media
Under the direction of the development leadership team provide special event support and actively assist during the event from start to finish.
Navigate and manage multiple projects at once, especially during events seasons
Manage and process incoming mail containing donations and donations received at the welcome desk
Cross-train and provide support when necessary with Raiser’s Edge, CHA’s fundraising and relationship management software, and other donor databases as needed.
Work independently and make sound decisions when necessary, as well as in a team environment.
Respond to necessary highly sensitive timelines with appropriate urgency to meet the needs of a fast-moving, dynamic organization.
Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications
Education

High School Diploma; Bachelor’s Degree preferred

Experience

Preference given to individuals that can demonstrate professional experience in: database management, Adobe Suite, WordPress, design software, and Microsoft Office. Strong written and telephone experience. Previous experience with administrative or special events in a non-profit or development environment strongly preferred.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities Required

Basic understanding of adolescent development and behaviors; demonstrate enjoyment of and ability to relate to at-risk youth and an ability to demonstrate empathy
Experience with graphic design and design software, with a demonstrated ability to create/design printed media
Detail oriented with an emphasis on accuracy, timeliness, and ability to summarize information department wide
Strong ability to relate effectively with staff, youth, and community agencies
Is approachable, builds rapport well and practices attentive and active listening
Ability to multi-task with a sense of emergency and task prioritization
Ability to handle high levels of stress within an dynamic environment and respond with a cool, confident demeanor
Address conflict professionally and manage difficult youth in a supportive, non-threating manner
Ability to work with people of varied cultural backgrounds, generations and tolerate differences in behavior
Support equal and fair treatment and opportunity for all: tolerant of people and processes
Maintain confidentiality and present the straightforward truth
Self-motivation, initiative, sound judgment, and commitment to ongoing learning
Proficient with standard computer operating systems; Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite, WordPress and a willingness to learn other software
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Willingness and ability to travel for periodic training, and work outside of normal business, holidays and/or weekends as needed
