Job Description : Job Title: FCAC Organizing FellowCore Purpose: Engage community members and leverage people power for the causes of energy and climate justice.Core Values: Principled & Collaborative Grassroots Organizing in FairbanksHours: 25-30 hours/week, with occasional evening meetings or weekendsCompensation: $18-20 per hour depending on experience; with robust PTO, healthcare and childcare stipends.Reports to: Energy Justice OrganizerLocation: Fairbanks, AKWork environment: FCAC shares office space with Native Movement. There is a flexible schedule, due to evening/weekend meetings and events. FCAC is an at-will employer.First review of applications: April 1st, position start date is flexible based on applicant availabilityFellowship from April to December 2022Summary of Position: FCAC seeks a dynamic and passionate Organizing Fellow to learn and share skills to directly support a volunteer led campaign to effectively organize and mobilize a mass movement of Fairbanksans around energy issues. This highly social organizing position will depend on working with a team to plan and coordinate community engagement and direct actions to win local solutions to advance a just transition.The ideal candidate will have lived experience and/or excitement to learn in most or all of the following areas: grassroots organizing, campaign planning and implementation, communications, volunteer management, cross-cultural communication, and social equity. Experience in collaborative work models is a must. While this position is part of a supportive, passionate, and dynamic team, the individual is expected to make their own work plan and schedule and coordinate meetings.Primary Responsibilities: Work with volunteers and partner organizations to execute campaign goals advancing Keep It In the Ground (KING) andRenewable Energy prioritiesWork closely with the FCAC working groups, organizers, & other staff to develop structure, create points of entry for volunteers and carry out campaign goalsGuide communications and information sharing, including public-facing outreach specific to KING and Renewable Energy campaigns to engage FCAC members and the general public to take actionWith leadership from working group members, bring campaign awareness to Interior by cultivating relationships with potential partners and alliesContribute to effective systems to track organizational progress and evaluate program components, to measure success that can be effectively communicatedQualifications:History of community engagement in Fairbanks preferred;Experience with engaging and integrating equitable practices with diverse community members, including Alaska Native, elders and youth, union members, etc.;Demonstrated knowledge and relevant experience in the fields of coalition building, grassroots organizing, and advocacy;Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively as part of a team and build trust and maintain relationships withFCAC volunteer members and organizational partners;Strong time-management skills, with the ability to meet goals and deadlines while working independently;Familiarity with social media and outreach tools, including Google Drive, Zoom and Slack;How to Apply: Please send a cover letter, resume, and three references to Kenzley Defler, at kenzley @ fbxclimateaction.org with“Organizing Fellow” in the subject line.
