Job Description : The UAA College of Arts and Sciences invites applications for a full-time Student Recruitment, Retention and Outreach Specialist position. The successful candidate will plan, develop, and implement student recruitment and retention initiatives in order to drive enrollment in the University of Alaska‘s College of Arts and Sciences. The position responsibility will also include the identification of new sources of program applicants and the building of strategic relationships with employers, community stakeholders and prospective students. The successful applicant will be responsible for outreach to and engagement with prospective students through events, communications, resources and other means. Another element of this position will be the oversight of College-wide retention efforts as well as the planning for summer outreach programs. There will be ongoing collaboration with the College of Arts and Sciences communication specialist, the Dean’s Office, and the College’s academic units, as well as with academic advisors and the UAA Office of Admissions.
Duties:
15Strategic Planning: Collaborate with the college leadership team and communications specialist to develop and maintain strategic plan for College of Arts and Sciences student recruitment activities. Perform outreach to high school guidance/career counselors and educators Outreach to student groups Possibly develop and oversee a student ambassador program Coordinate with CAS communications specialist to develop advertising campaigns in email, phone call, mailer, and other campaigns in alignment with recruitment goals. Coordinate with the CAS communications specialist to develop and maintain website and social media content that is useful and of interest to prospective student audiences.Essential
35Retention: Plan and facilitate retention events specific to CAS and its academic programs. Coordinate with the Alumni Relations Offices as appropriate. Assist departments in planning retention events on campus. Coordinate with CAS communications specialists to develop communications to students. Assist the Dean with strategic use of administrative scholarships for recruitment and retention purposes. Report status of student recruitment and retention issues to the college leadership and appropriate staff, as well as Enrollment Services administration and staff. Interface with faculty to provide curricular innovations to attract and retain a dynamic student population.Essential
50Recruitment and Outreach Activities: Plan and attend key recruitment events, including UAA events, college and career fairs, and others. Coordinate with the Office of Admissions on events as appropriate. Conduct outreach efforts targeting key stakeholders across Alaska, including K-12 teachers and guidance counselors, employers, community organizations and associations, and other sources of prospective students. Identify, research and build relationships with stakeholders in order to facilitate new sources of applicants to CAS academic programs. Plan and facilitate recruitment events specific to CAS and its academic programs (information sessions, classroom presentations, interactive activities/demonstrations, open houses, faculty presentations, tours, etc.). Lead and coordinate faculty/staff/student involvement in recruitment events and regional recruiting efforts. Coordinate with CAS leadership team and communications specialist to develop print and digital promotional and informational materials for recruitment activities. Conduct tours of College of Arts and Sciences facilities and give presentations about CAS. Train others to provide tours. Advise and coordinate with individual academic units on unit-level recruitment activities. Participate in the Office of Admissions recruitment collaborators group. Establish and maintain contact with prospective students interested in the College of Arts and Sciences careers, including through in-person meetings and individualized/mass communications. Manage prospect CRM/database. Coordinate with the Office of Admissions on the process for collecting leads, communicating with prospective students, purchasing lists, etc. for undergraduate programs. Coordinate with program faculty/staff on prospect/lead management for graduate programs. Coordinate with CAS communications specialist to develop communications to prospects/leads. Prepare end-of-year reports summarizing recruitment and retention activities and outcomes. Coordinate summer programming for K-12 students, including marketing, planning, liaison with the departments.Essential

TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:

Required:

Three years of relevant experience.
Experience working collaboratively as a member of a team, as well as independently.
Experience in higher education student recruitment.

Preferred:

Experience recruiting non-traditional students.
Familiarity with the College of Arts and Sciences and our academic programs.

REQUIRED EDUCATION OR TRAINING:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field and three years relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
