Position Summary:

Come join an award-winning program at ANSEP. We are recruiting for a Youth Peer Mentor to support our team in Kotzebue! We are seeking a Youth Peer Mentor to help support the ANSEP program located in Kotzebue. This role will provide mentorship to our high school students who enrolled in college courses. As a mentor, you are there to provide guidance that will help students succeed both academically and personally. This will involve developing positive relationships with students through encouragement and academic advice, assisting with academic work, and coordinating extracurricular activities.

To thrive in this role, applicants need to enjoy working with and guiding young people. We depend on this position to ensure clear communication with our students, staff, parents and partners. Therefore, excellent communication skills are a must! This position also needs someone with the desire to help others grow both academically and as a person.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school graduation required. Minimum of 20 university credits successfully completed is required. Successful completion of college level math, chemistry, or physics coursework is preferred.
  • Previous administrative or coordination experience, preferably in an educational or programmatic setting.
    Knowledge of or experience supporting youth in an education setting.
  • One year prior experience working with or overseeing students in residence programs is preferred.

Position Details:

This position is located in Kotzebue, it is to provide support for the ANSEP Acceleration Academy. This is a full-time, 9-12 month (depending on summer needs), term funded, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. New hires will be placed on the UA staff salary schedule, Grade 75, based on education and experience.
