Job Description : Position Paratransit DriverClassification: NonexemptReports to: Facilities and Transportation ManagerSummary/Objective Our Agency works with and assists in taking care of our senior citizens. A paratransit driver contributes to our success by helping with day-to-day deliveries and transportation of our seniors.Along with working with the greatest generation, you’ll be making sure meals are delivered, clients are safely transported, and vehicles are properly maintained and cared for, so our people are safe and comfortable. Be a part of something great; come join us in helping our seniors.Essential Functions Successfully performs scheduled manifest by picking up all clients on time and delivering them to their destinations safely and within a reasonable time frame.Ensures the safety of all passengers by use of appropriate on-board restraints.Assists clients entering and exiting vehicle; follows approved passenger assistance techniques with those who have mobility limitations.Communicates effectively with dispatcher or office personnel via mobile tablet or phones.Responds to seniors’ requests and needs as appropriate.Thoroughly documents the course of the day, including odometer readings, routes, times, and passenger information.Responds to passengers’ and Transportation Manager’s questions as needed.Performs door-to-door food deliveries for clients.Conducts pre- and post- trip vehicle inspections; reports safety issues to maintenance department for repairs.Fuels van daily and properly maintains interior and exterior of the vehicle.Works in a safe manner and recognizes unsafe situations. Takes appropriate action to ensure safety of seniors, co-workers, and self.Follows proper reporting procedures for actual or potential accidents and/or incidents so follow-up and prevention can occur.Complies with OSHA safety and health rules.Competencies Customer service and courtesy Thoroughness Time management Flexibility Problem solving and analysisPosition Paratransit DriverSupervisory Responsibility This position has no supervisory responsibilities.Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of weather conditions at work sites, including wet, icy, and cold winter conditions. The noise level in the work environment and job sites is moderate.Physical Demands The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to70 pounds.
