Job Description : The National Institute for Criminal Justice Reform (NICJR) is excited to have a qualified, passionate, effective Violence Reduction Program Administrative Coordinator join our team.

Organizational Overview

NICJR works to reduce incarceration and violence, improve the outcomes of system-involved youth and adults, and increase the capacity and expertise of organizations that serve these individuals. NICJR provides technical assistance, training, consultation, research, organizational development, and advocacy in the fields of juvenile and criminal justice, youth development, and violence prevention. NICJR works with an array of organizations, including government agencies, philanthropic foundations, and nonprofit organizations.

NICJR Violence Reduction Program Administrative Coordinator Job Description

The Violence Reduction Program Administrative Coordinator will work directly with the NICJR Executive Director, NICJR National Partner, the Violence Reduction Program Manager, as well as other staff, to organize, coordinate, follow up and support project management for NICJR violence reduction trainings and technical assistance. The Administrative Coordinator will coordinate and help project manage NICJR’s violence reduction initiatives. The Administrative Coordinator will also provide support and assistance to the member cities of the National Offices of Violence Prevention Network.

The Violence Reduction Program Administrative Coordinator will coordinate projects, follow up on communication, manage grant and contract deliverables, coordinate team members (including travel coordination), as well as conduct some research, write draft reports, and collect data. A successful Violence Reduction Program Administrative Coordinator candidate must have knowledge and experience in effective project management, administrative skills, and preferably, some knowledge of violence reduction strategies.

General Responsibilities:

Coordinate communication, technical assistance and training, and follow-up with jurisdictions NICJR is supporting to develop Gun Violence Reduction Strategies (GVRS).

Manage grant and contract deliverables in jurisdictions NICJR is supporting to develop GVRS.

Coordinate projects and initiatives, often with local government agencies or other stakeholders.

Participate in meetings, presentations and trainings, including taking notes and reporting out to the NICJR team.

Coordinate support and technical assistance with cities that are members of the National Offices of Violence Prevention Network.

Conduct some research and write draft reports on violence reduction.

This position will likely include frequent travel to cities throughout the country – this particular position will be focused primarily on the East Coast and Mid-West cities of Washington, DC, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Memphis and Indianapolis.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or no less than five years working in the field in a similar position

At least two years relevant experience

Passionate about violence reduction

Knowledgeable of project management and administrative platforms and tools

Energetic

Preferably, knowledgeable about effective violence reduction strategies, criminal justice reform and youth development

Formerly incarcerated and directly impacted individuals encouraged to apply

Time and Compensation:

Although a full-time position is preferred, under certain circumstances, NICJR will consider a less than full-time employee. In addition to health benefits and other perks, the starting salary range is $65,000-$85,000. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to promote to within the organization after proven excellent performance.
