Minimum Salary: $62,272.99
Maximum Salary A: $108,119.61
Maximum Salary B: $102,713.63
Under the general direction of the Court Executive 2B (General Operations Division Manager), the Mercer Vicinage is seeking a highly motivated, hardworking, self-starter, who possesses excellent leadership and supervisory skills to fill our Administrative Supervisor II position in our Interpreting Department. The selected candidate’s responsibilities will include being our Vicinage Coordinator of Interpreting Services (VCIS).
Additional responsibilities of the VCIS include but are not limited to: mentoring, coaching and counseling staff, undertaking progressive discipline; setting expectations and conducting performance evaluations; recommending and facilitating trainings; addressing service issues, as well as monitoring, evaluating, and tracking staff time off requests and schedules. In addition to supervising daily activities, the successful candidate will be familiar with The Judiciary’s Language Access Plan, and train staff regarding statewide policies and local procedures.
Note: This position may qualify for up to 1 day of remote work outside of Judiciary buildings based on position. To participate in this program, you will be required to have high speed home internet access. This program does not supersede the “New Jersey First Act”, which requires newly hired Judiciary employees to establish and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey.
Effective February 1, 2022, the New Jersey Judiciary will require all state court judges and staff to provide to Human Resources either (1) proof of initial vaccination and booster against COVID-19 once eligible to receive the booster; or (2) results of weekly tests for COVID-19. This information is maintained in a secure Judiciary application that is accessible only by a limited group of Human Resources staff.
Example of Duties
Communicate policies rules and regulations
Budget management
Provide statistics and reports when necessary
Set goals and provide direction for interpreting and translation work
Prioritize and assign work to staff and freelance interpreters with the goal of providing optimal customer service
Ensure local procedures are in line with our Language Access Plan
Produce Spanish translations, either in draft, or final forms of documents, such as official forms, public signs, notices, posters, form letters, and correspondence.
Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree and three years of professional experience, one year of which shall have included experience in development, coordination, analysis, implementation, administration or research and/or interpreting legal proceedings for litigants with limited English proficiency including the deaf and hard of hearing and translating local court related documents.

Substitution: Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute additional paraprofessional and/or professional experience on a year-for-year basis with one year of such experience being equal to 30 semester hour credits. An associate’s degree and two years of additional paraprofessional and/or professional experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree. A master’s degree may be substituted for one year of general experience as indicated above –OR– a law degree may be substituted for two years of general experience as indicated above.
Applicants must be able to interpret Spanish in the three modes of interpretation (sight, consecutive and simultaneous), in court proceedings, quasi-judicial hearings, complimentary dispute resolution events, and other court-related events, in person and/or via telecommunication device.
BICAT Testing: Candidates selected to serve in a bilingual variant title must pass the New
Jersey Civil Service Commission Bilingual Communicative Ability Test (BICAT) performance
examination or provide proof of having established bilingual proficiency with the New Jersey Civil Service Commission.
The successful candidate must possess excellent interpersonal skills and be able to work effectively with all levels of Judiciary staff.
