Job Description : Art Handler/Maintenance Person Eden Fine Art, a fast growing and innovative International Art Gallery, operating two galleries in the heart of NYC, Miami, and abroad, is actively looking for an experienced full time Art Handler to join our Team in Aspen CO.WHAT YOU WILL DO :Installs and deinstalls exhibition objects for all exhibitionsPrepares galleries for installation—including but not limited to case movement, cleaning, painting, spackling, fabric wrapping case interiors and/or wall panelsMoves all necessary tools, hardware, installation materials, hydraulic lifter, work tables, blankets, case lifters, ladders, work carts, tool boxes, bins, lights, light canisters, audio-visual equipment, stanchions, pedestals, cases, bonnets, brochure holders, acrylic holders, object mounts, and fabric, pylons, etc. with regard to the installation and deinstallation of all exhibitionsOperates shop machinery, including hand and power tools and work carts, as necessaryFrames artwork, prints, photographs, documents, and ephemera—in conformity with established conservation specificationsPerforms carpentry for exhibitions and exhibition areas including demolition, wall repair, painting and fabric wrappingFabricates and constructs exhibition components including pedestals, platforms, bases, vitrines, as neededMakes, mounts and places labelsPositions and installs graphic elementsMoves boxes of exhibition-related materials including printed materials to/from the loading dock to and other areas throughout the buildingReplenishes holders of all printed materials produced for exhibitions or displays including brochures, flyers, postcards, etc.Maintains an organized and clean working environmentWorks with Installation Coordinator as necessary regarding production elements including measurements, materials, fabrication methods and lightingPerforms routine exhibition maintenance including daily gallery checks and maintaining exhibition lighting. Cleans cases, platforms and frames, as neededPerforms related duties as requiredOccasional work trips to our galleries in Miami and Aspen or client’s installations outside the state.WHAT YOU HAVE :High school diploma or its equivalentRelevant experience of three or more years working in a museum, library galleries, or art galleryThree to five years art handling experience, preferably in a museum, library galleries, high-end gallery, or other art-service companyAbility to interpret and follow detailed instructionsDemonstrated ability to work tactfully and effectively with staff, outside art handlers, exhibition fabricators, graphic installers, contractors, designers and public at all levels in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environmentStrong initiative and work ethic with flexibility to respond to and take action in changing circumstances, often under pressureAbility to work in a team environmentSuccessfully demonstrated knowledge of machinery, materials, methods, practices and safety precautions, construction, exhibition installation and deinstallation, preferably in a museum settingAbility to take directionWorking familiarity with basic hand and power tools, power toolsHigh attention to detailExcellent communication and comprehension skillAbility to operate and work from scissor lifts (up to 30’ high) scaffolding and laddersBasic knowledge of electrical practice, electronics and mechanical installationsMust be able to respond quickly and tactfully to last minute requestsValid Driver License – (Experience Driving small truck is a plus)Available for occasional trips out of state by flight or truck’Work Remotely : NoJob Type: Full-timePay: $15.00 – $30.00 per hourEducation:High school or equivalent (Preferred)License/Certification:Driver’s License (Preferred)Work Location: One location
