Position Highlights
This position will assist the Director of Esports in establishing student and community focused culture and vision for esports at the University of Arizona. The esports program at UA is committed to diversity and inclusion within its leadership, community, and competitive rosters. We aim to foster the best student athletes in all manner of academics, competitions, professional development, and sportsmanship.

The Assistant director will assist in overseeing esports student-athletes’ welfare, including physical and mental health, esports community development, academic support, compliance and eligibility. The AD will ensure that the teams are supported, code of conduct is enforced, and commit to ensuring inclusion and other esports programs initiatives are met.

Candidates should expect work schedule to be flexible, with frequent evening and weekend work required, both in person and virtually.

Duties & Responsibilities
Serves as Esports Community Director and will oversee tournament and event creation aimed at esport community growth and retention. Ensures appropriate media coverage and collaboration for created events
Will create digital marketing media and oversee official esports program website, social media channels (discord, twitter, and twitch), and ensure esports streams comply with policies and procedures of collegiate leagues and the university
Supports the Director for the program in recruiting esport student athletes that meet the universities mission and values, while seeking external fundraising and scholarship opportunities for esport student athletes
Works cooperatively with Student Union and student organizations on campus to facilitate esports activities and programming
Assists the director with the daily operations of the esports programs, collaborations, and student personnel
Mentors esports team/community members with a focus on academic success, inclusion, leadership, community development and sportsmanship
Assists in the development of esports research and academic programs on campus
Assists in managing varsity and community teams’ practices, events, and sanctioned esports competitions

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree in recreation, sports management, computer sciences, or other relevant field required
Minimum of 3 years of collegiate esport management experience, including:
Experience as a leader within a university esports program/community with a focus on inclusivity, positivity, integrity, and community development
Experience in managing the challenges of varsity co-ed esports teams, and a commitment to do so for the betterment of collegiate esports
Experience in mentoring and working with female and male identifying student athletes
Experience in collaborating with university faculty and staff in the development of esports academic programs and research opportunities
Experience in training and supervising student leaders/staff for meaningful student experiences leading to retention, inclusion, and future employment opportunities
Experience in creation of digital media for esports marketing
Have ability to work a variable work schedule, including evening and weekend work
