Job Summary
The Office of Sponsored Projects (OSP) seeks an Associate Director to develop and implement policies, programs and financial objectives for grant management at the University. This position will participate in preparing department budgets and in setting department goals and ensure continuity and quality customer service.

Responsibilities
1. Develop and implement customer service, staff management and financial objectives for assigned departments consistent with the University’s goals and objectives. Build trusted relationships with faculty, staff, and leadership, as well as sponsors and collaborators.
2. Help manage Office of Sponsored Project’s (OSP’s) budget and estimate budgetary requirements for special projects and oversee purchases and inventory.

3. Plan and manage OSP and employee activities to help set and meet operational goals and objectives in alignment with University research goals.

4. Work with the Director to monitor and oversee existing research operations, resources, compliant processes, and the needs of members of the Grants team.
5. Interpret Federal, state, sponsor and University regulation and policy to ensure compliance. Build and maintain compliant infrastructure, policies, and practice.
6. Directly supervise OSP staff and develop staffing plans for the OSP Grants team. Ensure that position descriptions, training plans, and performance standards are established for all levels of staff.

7. Communicate new grants, policy and procedures, and compliance standards. Notify University faculty of training and informational events and encourage attendance.

8. Be a champion for OSP and the role it plays and impact it has at the University.

9. Directly manage submission of all grant applications, competing and non-competing renewals, including supplements. Act as the administrative contact/liaison for sponsoring agencies.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business or Public Administration, a related area, or equivalency required; plus 6-8 years of progressively more responsible management experience; and demonstrated leadership, human relations and effective communication skills also required. Master’s degree in Business Administration or related area preferred.
