Job Description : Major Responsibilities:
1. Organizes, prepares, and issues daily work assignments for crew members. Ensure work procedures are followed safely and efficiently and work is completed properly.

2. Ensures all plans, materials, tools, and supplies are available for crew members.

3. Provides on-site job training and demonstrates proper, safe and efficient work methods.

4. Operate and monitor performance of heavy equipment, such as excavators, bulldozers, loaders, scrapers, backhoes, dump trucks, and heavy haul trucks.

5. Operate other various types of equipment to include, but not limited to; mowers, trimmers, power tools, tractors, boats, vehicles and other equipment as needed.

6. Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment with minimal supervision.

7. Inspections, upkeep, and operations of Bois d’ Arc Lake facilities as well as shoreline maintenance. This will require on water operations as well as land operations.

8. Responsible for observing safe work practices.

9. Required attendance while assisting in making preparations for special events.

10. Responsible for upkeep of all facilities indoor and outdoor; including collecting and disposing of trash and any debris on lake property and facilities.

11. Perform other duties as needed to fit the varying situations that may/will occur with normal day-to-day operations of the lake.

12. Assist in ordering chemicals; takes delivery of bulk chemicals and monitors unloading process and record into inventory processes.

13. Maintains thorough operational logs and records.

14. Keeps records of expenses, work orders, schedules, and attendance of daily activities.

15. Checks cleanliness and upkeep of tools and equipment.

16. Drives District vehicle to transport crew members, materials, and equipment to and from jobsite.

17. Directs clean-up activities around the work site to leave premises are clean and safe.

18. Makes visual inspections; monitors facilities and roads to insure adequate security.

19. Performs preventive and predictive maintenance on facilities; assists specialized trades personnel in making major and/or specialized repairs to equipment; coordinates work of contractors and of other departments.

20. Observe safety guidelines as required by State statutes and as prescribed by the NTMWD. This includes identifying and mitigating safety hazards as well as assisting in the implementation of safety programs.

21. Learn and adhere to applicable NTMWD policies and procedures. May assist in training new operators.

22. Assists the Supervisor, as directed in leading and directing a work crew in a variety of weather conditions.

23. Regular, reliable and punctual attendance is an essential function of the job.

24. Performs all other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
1. Requires a basic knowledge of custodial, carpentry, plumbing, painting, mechanics, landscaping, and specialized equipment.

2. Requires sustained mental attention regarding correct process adjustments for proper maintenance and operations of all Bois d’ Arc Lake facilities and equipment.

3. Spatial discrimination; hand-eye-foot coordination; manual dexterity; generally good physical condition.

4. Requires knowledge of sign layout practices and surface preparation/adaptability of various surface materials.

5. Requires knowledge of standard colors, configuration, and placement of lane markings and traffic signs.

6. Ability to follow oral and written instructions and read charts and maintain written records.

7. Must communicate effectively, both written and verbally, with supervisors and peers to convey information.

8. Maintain basic computer skills and electrical and mechanical knowledge.

9. Ability to perform simple math calculations.

10. Ability to perform a variety of manual labor for extended periods.

11. Ability to lift and work with heavy equipment.

12. Must be able to operate boats and complete water and boater safety courses.

13. Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with all levels of management, city officials, vendors, other government agencies, other employees and the general public.

Education and Experience:
1. Must possess a High School Diploma or G.E.D.

2. Requires a Valid Texas Class “A” CDL Driver’s license.

3. Must have experience in a lead position.

4. Must have experience in operating heavy equipment and boats.

Environmental Factors, Activity Levels and Equipment

Requires extensive walking, carrying, dragging, holding, pulling, pushing, lifting, kneeling, bending, twisting body, walking, reaching, and squatting; may be required to lift up to 100 pounds. Must be able to work indoors, outdoors, on level, slippery, sloping, unstable, and muddy terrain; under constantly noisy conditions; and work in adverse environmental conditions to include inclement weather such as rain, sleet, snow, heat, sun exposure; and exposure to insects, noxious plants, and snakes.
