Because of the temporary nature of these appointments, Casual Hire employees are not eligible for most benefits as provided to regular BOR and Civil Service employees such as paid leave and holidays. Casual Hire appointments may last for up to 89 days for full-time employees, and up to 1 calendar year for part-time employees.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop programs designed to emphasize behavioral health and substance use prevention.
Evaluate overall effectiveness of program activities and institutes changes to increase effectiveness. Evaluate appropriateness of training programs.
Provide a full range of psychology research and continuing professional education services. Develops innovative methods to provide services and assist in culturally safe, on-site implementation.
Provide clinical education for continuing education credits to social workers, certified substance abuse counselors and others during live webinar-based training sessions for interprofessional and community-based audiences.
Provide day-to-day support in implementing the Scope of Work (SOW) for workforce development training initiatives of the Behavioral Health Administration at the Hawaii State Department of Health.
Perform assigned tasks to implement programs developed by Department of Social Work faculty.
Independently carry out tasks necessary for culturally safe educational programming on historical/cultural practices, including contemporary and archival research, document preparation, meeting facilitation and professional development necessary to support health workforce development.
Work independently under the direction of the principal investigator to develop and implement live streamed professional trainings.
Contribute to writing of proposals and reports.
Develop, produce, and maintain materials for communication with stakeholders and plan, solicit, and make presentations to stakeholders.
Communicate with external partners as needed for project purposes.
Assist with timely completion of extramurally funded deliverables.
Attend meetings, including but not limited to, community, County, and State level meetings.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) from an accredited college or university in Psychology.
Three years of experience in performing clinical psychology in health care settings, interacting with patients and their families/associates, and with substance use disorder.
Considerable working knowledge of clinical psychology and evidence-based treatments for mental health conditions Among Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders.
Computer literate in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Familiarity with telework programs such as Zoom, Google Suite and Slack.
Ability to perform work tasks remotely.
Desirable Qualifications:
Education and experience in the cultural and geographic setting specific to the Hawaiian islands.
Knowledge of Pacific Islands and Oceanic cultural and political history.
Knowledge of olelo Hawaii (Hawaiian language).
Experience providing professional training.
