Position : Consumer Lending Credit Analyst Trainee, I, II, III
Job Description : Overview:
Reports To: Senior Buyer
Primary Functions: Underwrite indirect loan requests.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Evaluate credit applications and make credit decisions consistent with the Equal Credit Opportunity Act and all other existing authority, including credit union policies and guidelines.
Rapidly underwrite and respond to credit requests sent to the Dealer Loan Center by network dealers.
Participate in dealer relations activities as necessary to promote the credit union’s interests.
Maintain dealer and trade contacts, apprising management of industry trends which may necessitate refinements to the indirect lending program.
Support other loan centers as required.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field. Advanced industry courses in consumer lending, including knowledge of all applicable laws and regulations.
Creditable Experience in Lieu of Education: Buyer I – Two years consumer loan officer experience. Buyer II – Three years consumer loan officer experience
Experience/Skills: Must have extensive knowledge of all consumer lending regulations, as well as all Alaska USA lending programs, processes and guidelines. Should have one year experience with this credit union in a problem-solving capacity, which routinely calls for independent decision making. Must have ability to adapt to a variety of situations, processing a high volume of work with attention to detail. Should be self-motivated and able to grasp concepts quickly. Must have ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically, and be proficient at typing. Must be willing to work evenings and weekends with minimal supervision. Senior Buyer must have demonstrated a thorough understanding of direct and indirect lending processes and proficiency in dealer relations. Must be trained in all areas of Dealer Loan Center Operations, including loan processing, funding and problem contract resolution.
Tenure: Buyer I, Category 12, requires two years tenure in the Buyer Trainee position with performance that meets or exceeds expectations. Buyer II, Category 11, requires two years tenure in the Buyer I position with performance that meets or exceeds expectations. Buyer III, Category 10, requires three years tenure in the Buyer II position with performance that meets or exceeds expectations. Directly related work experience and/or accelerated training completion may be substituted for tenure.
