Job Description : Permanent service in this title or one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service in a title SG-21 or higher and otherwise eligible for transfer under Civil Service Law.
Provisional Qualifications: Promotional: One year as Criminal Justice Policy Analyst 1 or as a Program Research Specialist 2 (Criminal Justice).
Open Competitive: A bachelor’s degree in correctional studies, crime analysis, criminal justice, criminology, economics, forensics, government, law, law enforcement, law and society, political science, public administration, public affairs, public justice, psychology, social work, or sociology, AND three years of the qualifying experience described below.* One year of this experience must have been as a project leader or project supervisor.

Duties DescriptionWorking in the Office of Youth Justice (OYJ), the Criminal Justice Policy Analyst 2 (CJPA2) will supervise the administrative operations of the office and assist the Chief of Policy and Implementation in developing strategies to organize and streamline those operations. The incumbent will also assume responsibilities for activities related to the New York State Juvenile Justice Advisory Group (JJAG) including funding recommendations, agenda development, meeting minutes, the JJAG annual report, and the federal Title II application. Duties will also include organizing and analyzing spending plans as they relate to programmatic needs and making recommendations to optimize project achievements. The CJPA2 will be expected to gain a broad overall knowledge of the juvenile justice system and the SNUG program and integrate that knowledge into effective, implementable solutions. The incumbent will work with professionals at the federal, state, and local level.
