Job Duties
Ohio Department Public Safety – Bureau of Motor Vehicles/License Support Document Management
Report in Location: 1970 West Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43223
Greet & respond to in-person, telephone and/or written inquiries in a professional, courteous, friendly, respectful and timely manner to ensure positive internal/external customer service; Listen carefully to internal/external customer’s questions and/or concerns and ask appropriate follow-up questions to verify understanding; provide a complete, knowledgeable, accurate, precise response immediately or provide a firm commitment as to when a response will be provided; follow-up to ensure all of the customerĂ‚Â¿s questions and/or concerns have been thoroughly answered; Process requests for items related to the Ohio driver license & state identification card; Provide assistance & information to customers, law enforcement, government agencies, various BMV sections & the general public in response to requests and inquiries received by fax, e-mail, telephone and mail regarding various suspension types ; Research & process unidentified documents; Reimburse law enforcement agencies for confiscated Ohio license/license plates, review/batch hearing request, record merges, court rejects, direct entries; journal entries and terminations; Operate personal computer, key information into computer file to generate appropriate correspondence back to the courts, general public, & law enforcement; Verify the accuracy of all information received & entered into the various Ohio Department of Public Safety (ODPS) systems, check court rejects for errors or duplication of work; Investigate & resolve problems or complaints pertaining to work processed through the unit; Review various reports for updates; Perform clerical tasks & other jobs as assigned (e.g., return driver licenses, state identification cards, court rejects, open incoming mail, stuff envelopes, file, scan, make copies, fax information, prepare documents for mailing, log certified mail, purge scanned documents, box reports, etc.); Assist with merging of records, updating & retrieving information In State and Out of State Tickets; Assist in key entry on various case set-ups, prepare response to suspense letters and e-mails as needed.
Batch, sort & scan as needed; Review supporting documents; Prepare batches or letters for retention, indexing, maintain logs & statistics on work completed daily; Assists with special projects.
Assists with other unit functions to include; processing fourth failures, adding narratives to records regarding fraud, creating records, & shredding documents as needed; Fax & scan incoming &/or outgoing; Assist other units within Suspensions & Licensing Services when needed.
Qualifications
-9 mos. trg. or 9 mos. exp. in office practices & procedures; -9 mos. trg. or 9 mos. exp. in public relations or customer service that included techniques for handling difficult people; -9 mos. trg. or 9 mos. exp. in typing, keyboarding, data entry or word processing; -9 mos. trg. or 9 mos. exp. in operation of personal computer.
Or equivalent of Minimum Qualifications for Employment noted above.

UNUSUAL WORKING CONDITIONS
May be confined to desk answering telephone for 6.5-7 hours per day.
