Position Summary
The Deposit Applications Manager is responsible for the implementation, administration, testing, end-user technical guidance, optimization, and maintenance of the assigned applications. This position is embedded in the business unit and frequently aids management with tactical and strategic planning. This position ensures vendors meet deliverables and service level standards, performs business process analysis, aligns business goals and policies with system capabilities, performs and documents authorized system changes, designs and performs system testing and validation, collaborates with stakeholders and technical counterparts, and assumes ownership for deposit related banking applications.
The following duties are intended to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities and ARE NOT intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by all employees in this classification. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Perform advanced needs assessments for end-users based on their operational and business requirements, and work with vendor and internal engineering resources to design technology solutions to meet those needs.
Regularly meet with business unit leadership to ensure their technology needs are being met, and discuss and prioritize technical resource allocation to support the Bank’s goals.
Manage Deposit Application projects to ensure they are implemented timely, within budget, and with minimal negative impact to end users.
Act as the technical subject matter expert for the Bank’s portfolio of deposit applications, ensuring the Bank is efficiently leveraging the full capabilities of its deposit systems.
Maintain an advanced understanding of deposit and banking operations, workflows, and processes.
Administer, test, automate, optimize, and maintain the internal applications servers, client-side internal applications, authentication servers, and communication gateways associated with deposit applications.
Obtain, establish, document, and communicate best practices through active participation in vendor and user group liaisons. Ensure business units are in alignment with vendor development roadmaps.
Provide technical and operational guidance and coaching to various deposit support staff. Coordinate with deposit business units and training resources to develop technical training.
In conjunction with business unit leaders and vendor support, create, validate, test, and maintain new deposit products, processes, and configuration change requests.
Ensure users are provisioned sufficient, but not excessive, rights and permissions to internal applications.
Ensure deposit applications have adequate configuration controls and auditing, and that all required audit certifications are completed on time.
Understand, document, and maintain the relationships between deposit applications and other applications, infrastructure, and security controls. Maintain file imports, data transfers, client environment variables, and data field mapping between deposit-related systems. Ensure configuration changes do not adversely affect interdependent applications, business processes, or reporting.
Provide support for applications: ensuring outages and issues are reported, managed, and escalated to vendors, management, and end-users.
Frequently communicate and collaborate between vendors, technology peers, business units, and departmental management.
Assume responsibility for communication of release notes, patches, and version update changes.
Assist Management in evaluating requests for new technology related to deposit applications; assess the technology for security, interoperability, supportability, scalability, return on investment, and other factors.
Directly supervise the Application Administrators and Specialists.
Complete online, written and in-person compliance training within established timeframes.
Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include scheduling hours, interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; conduct performance evaluation; working with HR to address work related issues.
Ensure employees complete compliance training within established timeframes; understand and implement compliance requirements applicable to their positions.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field. Four years commensurate experience may be substituted for a degree.
Experience
Three years of experience performing business analysis and supporting technology applications.
Three years of deposit operations, new accounts, item process knowledge preferred.
Related military education/experience may be used as a substitute for education or work experience.
Licenses & Certifications
Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification preferred.
Knowledge & Communication Skills
Management of information systems, business processes analytics, and business application ownership desired.
Advanced oral and written communication skills.
Strong customer service and consultative skills.
Ability to lead and motivate others.
Must understand and have the ability to implement applicable compliance requirements.
Analytical & Decision Making Skills
Self-directed, able to work independently without supervision
Must have the capability to resolve most customer questions or concerns independently and recognize the need for escalation.
Must be able to multi-task and accomplish accurate work that adheres to established processes, procedures and regulations.
Considerable critical thinking, problem solving, and judgement skills including strong investigations skills and the ability to extrapolate information from technical sources.
Computer/Software/Other Equipment Skills
Ability to master business-centric applications, with a working knowledge of structured query languages, programming languages, and software implementation best practices.
Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Windows operating systems, virtualization infrastructure, enterprise security practices, and backup and replication technology.
Proficient with standard office machinery such as PC (keyboard and ten-key), telephone, printer, and fax/copier.
Must be able to navigate through computerized and manual resources, in order to identify and resolve problem situations. Must possess intermediate knowledge of Microsoft® Office Suite.
