Deputy Fire Marshal
Weber & Summit Counties
Principal Duties:
As a Deputy Fire Marshal you will will perform the following duties within an assigned geographic area to include:
Arson:
Determine cause and origin of fires.
Conduct investigations.
Prepare technical reports.
Assist in prosecution of criminal charges.
Fire Prevention:
Review, approve and deny architectural and engineering plans for fire code compliance.
Inspect and test fire protection systems.
Inspect, approve and deny new and existing structures for compliance with codes and standards.
Provide technical assistance.
Develop and conduct training.
Inspection of new and existing structures for code compliance
Fire Investigation
Preference may be given to applicants who:
Possess an active Utah Fire Inspector I certification
Are POST certified (SFO)
Supplemental Information:
Must complete and pass a Level III investigation, as well as, polygraph, medical and psychological exams
Job requires POST certification; Peace Officer Standards Training in Utah
Must be a certified fire inspector
valid driver license required to drive a motor vehicle on a highway in this state per UCA53-3-202(1)(a).
exposure to adverse, inclement, and varying weather conditions
Risks which require the use of special safety precautions and/or equipment, e.g., working around operating machines, working with contagious diseases or hazardous chemicals, etc.
Work requires physical exertion. May require the ability to stand; walk over rough surfaces; bend, crouch, stoop, stretch, reach, lift moderately heavy items (up to 50 lbs.) in a recurring manner and/or for long periods of time.
