Position : Executive Director
Job Description : Tidewater Youth Services Commission is seeking an accomplished and energetic individual to lead the organization as its Executive Director. This position serves as the chief administrative officer of a public regional agency serving youth and families involved in the juvenile justice and social services systems. The Executive Director reports directly to the Board of Commissioners who are appointed to their positions by the seven localities who are members of the Commission. Duties include development and compliance with agency policies and procedures, preparation and management of the agency’s budget, implementation of high quality programs and services; directing operations through subordinate staff and directors and management of the use of TYSC resources. Must be proficient in written and oral communication, be an effective public speaker, and have the ability to influence decisions on the local and state level. Must have thorough knowledge of juvenile justice and related research as well as knowledge regarding employment law and regulatory standards. Strong organizational and leadership skills are musts. Minimum Qualifications
Minimum requirements are a master’s degree in public administration, social work, psychology or related human services field; supplemented by a minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible experience managing programs for at-risk youth; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Fair Labor Standards Status: Exempt.
