Company Overview
Located in the seasonal Alaskan cruise ship port of Skagway, the Skagway Brewing Company features an on-site microbrewery and restaurant with seating for up to 400, retail store and aeroponic garden. We take pride in our sustainability efforts – we have a year-round indoor garden where we grow all of our own leafy greens & culinary herbs. The harvest yield of these greens and herbs are boosted by the carbon dioxide released from the brewing process which we capture and send via pipes over to the garden.
Job Summary
The host is the face of SBC, warmly welcoming guests, ensuring they are seated in a timely manner and answering any questions they may have with impeccable customer service and composure.
This is a seasonal position running mid-April through mid-October.

Responsibilities
Meet, greet & seat guests in a timely manner
Maintain a welcoming presence along with a friendly and courteous attitude….smile!
Provide information to guests upon request (such as menu or beer suggestions, locations of stores, general information about Skagway or Skagway Brewing, etc)
Alert server to new tables
In-depth knowledge of bar and restaurant menus
In-depth knowledge of brewing process and tasting notes of our ales
In-depth knowledge of retail merchandise sold in our gift shop
Direct customers to merchandise and special promotions in gift shop
Bus/wipe tables when needed
Server assistance (run credit cards, food & drink) when necessary
Ensure host stations are clean and adequately stocked before and end of shift
Effectively communicate in a concise and respectful manner
Qualifications
21+ years old
Possess strong communication and customer service skills
Flexible and adaptable to quickly changing demands
Ability to work on your feet for eight hours or more a day & lift large boxes weighing 35+ lbs
