PURPOSE
The Human Resources (HR) Specialist will assist in the administration and coordination of day-to-day activities associated with employee relations, performance management, staffing, employee records, compensation, onboarding, recognition, employee assistance and benefits administration. The incumbent will provide support in the overall processes in the Human Resources department.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
Reports To: Human Resources Director

Supervises: None
Liaison To: Employees
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Prepare and review compensation and benefit package optionsAdminister health, retirement and life insurance programsImplement training and development plansUpdate employee records with new hire information and/or changes in employment statusMaintain organizational charts and detailed job descriptions along with salary recordsForecast hiring needs and ensure recruitment process runs smoothlyAssist in developing and implementing HR policiesProcess employee inquiries and respond timelyAssist with open enrollment processAssist in facilitating benefits fairPlan quarterly and annual performance review sessionsProvide necessary reports for allocation/billing charges

NECESSARY SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Maintain current knowledge of employee benefits optionsRemain current on applicable lawsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsExcellent organizational and time management skillsProficient with Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to work independently and prioritize workloadAbility to organize, plan, and maintain confidential recordsAbility to search, select, compile, and summarize data and informationAbility to compare data for completeness, identify any discrepancies or inaccuracies, and make the necessary corrections

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education, experience, skills)
Associate Degree
2 years related experience

Substitution for Associate Degree

4 years HR experience

UNUSUAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OR RESTRICTIONS
The majority of work is performed in a professional office setting and is generally sedentary, requiring routine walking, standing, bending, and carrying of items weighing less than 40 lbs. Travel on small aircraft or ferry may be required.
