Job Description : Job InformationOpen to the general public and any current Municipal employee.This is an executive position (no union affiliation) and serves at the pleasure of the Mayor of the Municipality of Anchorage.DEPARTMENT: Anchorage Health DepartmentHOURS OF WORK: Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with some after hours and weekendsLOCATION: 825 L StreetExample of DutiesManage the operation of the Human Services Division of the Anchorage Health Department (AHD). Administer direct and strategic supervision to the program managers responsible for Child Care Licensing, Community Safety and Development, and Senior and Emergency Outreach. Ensure collaboration among the three departments in concert with the welfare, health, and safety of the Municipality of Anchorage. Promote human service evidence-based practices and development plans to ensure current and future objectives are maintained. Advise the Director of the Anchorage Health Department on issues and changes to policy, challenges, and opportunities related to program strategy and implementation. Maintain oversight and leadership in the forecasting, monitoring, and administering of budgets to include grant management, and reporting for local, state, and federal funding. Oversee functional direction for division in relation to on-boarding, evaluations, discipline, and termination actions. This position requires the incumbent to balance multiple priorities while being flexible to the demands of the division in normal state of operations and emergency state of operations. Perform other related duties as assigned.The Anchorage Health Department (AHD) engages in the State of Alaska Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS) emergency responses and the federal Incident Command System (ICS). This includes training exercises as part of the AHD’s Crisis Health Action Team (CHAT) and municipal Emergency Operations Center (EOC). In the case of a natural or manmade disaster, AHD employees may be called to engage in emergency operations responses and recovery.Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / PreferencesMaster’s degree in Public Health, Human Services, Business Administration, or similar discipline and four (4) years of professional health or social services experience, two (2) years which must have been in a supervisory or administrative capacity.ORBachelor’s degree in Public Health, Human Services, Business Administration, or similar discipline and six (6) years of professional health or social services experience, two (2) years which must have been in a supervisory or administrative capacity.ORAssociate’s degree in Public Health, Human Services, Business Administration, or similar discipline and eight* (8)* years of professional health or social services experience, two (2) years which must have been in a supervisory or administrative capacity.Must possess a valid State of Alaska driver’s license at time of hire.Additional Important InformationThe Municipality of Anchorage participates in the U.S. Department of Homeland Security E-verify Program.
