Job Description : Teach undergraduate courses in the foundations area of the teacher education program.
Minimum Qualifications
Masters degree and three years of experience, or terminal degree in education or closely related field by start date.
Minimum of three years of teaching experiences in P-12 schools (i.e. schools, formal and/or informal education) or equivalent.
Commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from historically marginalized populations
Preferred Qualifications
Terminal degree in education or closely related field.
Experience in schools that serve historically marginalized populations
Experience in specific content areas – science, mathematics, literacy, ESL
Record of successful college teaching or working with teacher candidates
Demonstrated potential for research and scholarly activity in education

Essential Functions and percent of time:
Teaching 80%:
Preparation for teaching assigned classes in education foundations, supervised practice, or special topics depending on expertise
Track class membership, post grades and complete change of grade requests through Wings Express
Post course materials and communicate with students through WSU Learning Management systems
Meet with class or have online contact with students during scheduled Final Exam Time block
Develop and teach courses that are assigned by department chair. This could include teaching daytime, evening, weekend, web-enhanced, and/or online (synchronous or asynchronous) courses
Communicate promptly with department staff regarding class scheduling, book orders, and program meetings
Participate in program team meetings and curricular initiatives
Submit course syllabi and hold office hours as required
Work with Department Chair and Program Directors to make timely curricular improvements or changes in courses.
Participate in professional development opportunities

Service 20%:
Serve on department, college, and university committees
Participate in recruitment, orientations and special events
Advise and mentor students
Participate in alumni relations special events
Work collaboratively with colleagues across campus and within fellow institutions
Work with practicing teachers and school leaders, especially those from districts with formal partnerships through the Office of Partnerships and Field Experiences (OPFE)
