SALARY: $33,000 – $35,000 annually
The Jamestown–Yorktown Foundation has an exciting new opportunity available. We are looking for a qualified candidate to be our Museum Education Specialist (Elementary). This position will oversee a team of Museum Educators who support our mission and its significant commitment to providing quality internal and external customer service and curriculum- and inquiry-based education programs. Primary responsibilities include developing, implementing and evaluating programming for preK-6th grade students including school tours, camps and other after school activities, reviewing and instructing on current educational trends, searching for appropriate partnerships to grow camps, and motivating a diverse team of Museum Educators.
Qualifications
– Excellent oral and written communication skills.
– Demonstrated skills in supervising and mentoring a diverse staff; ability to motivate team members to develop programming.
– Demonstrated knowledge of adult training methodology, interview and evaluation techniques for hiring and supervision of museum educators.
– Experience in development and implementation of pre-K to sixth grade lessons and activities, with skill in facilitating education programs to diverse student audiences.
– Knowledge of museum education techniques and resources.
– Ability to develop, implement and revise inquiry-based and dialogic education programs.
– Demonstrated ability to organize resources effectively to achieve objectives.
– Undergraduate degree is strongly preferred (history, anthropology, museum studies or education). Additional consideration for those with graduate study in one of the above mentioned fields.
