Duties
About the Toxicology Laboratory Division:
The Toxicology Laboratory’s mission is to provide forensic toxicology services and training for our user agencies (or customers) within the criminal justice system. We are committed to the highest quality forensic services which ultimately enhances public safety for the citizens of Washington.
About the Position:
This position supervises the Administrative functions and the Property & Evidence section of the TLD, both of which are related to the custody and management of evidence, records and clerical services. The administrative Services Manager supervises three (3) Property & Evidence Custodians and two (2) Office Assistant 3 positions. This position may also supervise grant/project administrative staff and trooper cadets.
Duties Include:
Training and supervision of subordinates
Coordination of administrative and evidence audits
Ordering office and laboratory supplies and consumables
Tracking of operational and grant funding
Arranging for maintenance contracts and emergency repairs
Reviewing and revising policies, procedures, and manuals for the toxicology laboratory to improve administrative and evidence functions
Providing customer service to internal and external customers
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
At least two years of administrative services experience, to include knowledge in the planning, organizing, implementing, performing and/or controlling of administrative work.
An Associate’s Degree or higher.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
Valid, unrestricted Washington State Driver’s License (or ability to obtain one upon hire)
Our ideal candidate also has:
A Bachelor’s degree involving major study in business administration or closely related field.
Experience and/or knowledge in criminal evidence handling procedures as part of law enforcement work in an accredited laboratory.
Experience in planning, organizing, implementing and coordination of administrative services for a department, college, division or other medium-sized organization entity.
Experience in supervision and team leadership of administrative and/or technical personnel.
Experience in working under stressful and demanding situations and a demonstration of flexibility and adaptability to meet given deadlines and complete high quality work at a supervisory level.
Experience in contract management, project management, budget and cost estimates, and working efficiently and effectively with other agencies, groups or teams.
Knowledge of laws related to public disclosure and records retention and protection.

Selection Process:

Prior to hire, a polygraph examination and background investigation including criminal record history will be conducted.

The Washington State Patrol has strict standards relating, but not limited to, personal and employment characteristics, arrests, convictions, and illegal drug usage, etc. During the polygraph examination, candidates are required to sign an assessment sheet and participate in an oral interview process to verify responses to the Personal History and Background Questionnaire and a Pre-Employment Interview. Untruthful or misleading answers or omissions will be cause for rejection of potential employment.
Transcripts:
Education verification is part of the selection process. If selected as a top candidate, all position required or applicant specified education must be verified. If a High School diploma or equivalent is required but the applicant indicates a degree has been earned, the accredited degree will be accepted in place of the High School diploma or equivalent. Please do not send these transcripts at the time of application. If you are selected as a top candidate you will be contacted by the Human Resource Division and asked to provide official transcripts at the appropriate time.
