Job Description : Job Summary:
SURETY
This position is designated as a chemical duty position and is subject to the requirements of the Chemical Personnel Reliability Program. As a condition of employment, candidates and incumbents must favorably complete a personnel security investigation, urinalysis testing, medical exam and respiratory screening, and must meet and maintain personnel suitability and reliability requirements established by Army Regulation 50-6.
Require routine access to chemical surety materials.
Are authorized to escort visitors to areas containing chemical surety materials.
Control direct access to chemical surety material.
Are motor vehicle/material handling equipment operators involved in movement of chemical agents.
Are operators of equipment that disassembles chemical
munitions/containers or handle chemical surety materials during
demilitarization operations.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES / TASKS
Perform all work safely and with the utmost concern for the safety of self and other employees.
Perform all work in compliance with environmental permits and regulations.
Be at work when scheduled and maintain a good attendance record.
Must comply with Conduct of Operations (CONOPS).
Follow specific direction of Area Supervisor or Control Room Operator as appropriate.
Perform daily, weekly, monthly RCRA inspections.
Perform daily inspections of hazardous waste storage areas.
Package, label, transport, and store hazardous materials.
Monitor and control the handling, labeling, and disposition of decontaminated materials.
Required to wear DPE, Level A, B, or C protective equipment to make entries into the chemical exclusion area as necessary to perform assigned duties.
Serve as emergency backup for toxic area entry teams.
Monitor tank levels and process instrumentation.
Mix and prepare various chemical solutions.
Must be able to obtain/maintain forklift/forktruck operator certification
Must be able to obtain/maintain crane operator certification.
ERB PROCESSING:
Transfer munitions from munitions service magazine (MSM) to Enhanced Reconfiguration Building (ERB) feed area.
Provide security to Modified Ammunition Vehicle (MAV) unloading dock doorway into MSM corridor.
Sample, stage and perform all forklift movements within the ERB area. Remove dunnage from ERB and deliver to Dunnage Dock or Clean Dunnage Storage. Return and stage overpack pallets (OPPs) for return.
Load munitions, using lift assist if required, from pallets onto the Explosion Containment Room (ECR) feed conveyor.
Unload munitions, using lift assist if required, from exit line onto the munitions transport pallet. Two personnel per operating line kept for munitions handling operations and buddy system to include reader-checker operations.
Separate energetic parts and package for downstream palletizing. Place inert parts into waste bins for disposal.
Use pallet jack to move munitions transport pallets in and out of the projectile monitoring area. Stage munitions transport pallets for automated guide vehicle (AGV) pickup. Supply packing containers and waste bins to and from parts removal area. Provide necessary support labor for palletizing, packaging and shipping of munitions bodies, and inert and energetic parts.
Provide door guard security for normal access to ERB exclusion areas.
Oversee loading of pallets of energetic waste onto transportation vehicles for off-site disposal. Sort energetic parts and palletize for removal from energetics service magazine (ESM) for off-site disposal.
Load pallets of energetic waste onto transportation vehicles for off-site disposal. Sort energetic parts and palletize for removal from ESM for off-site disposal.
Unpack boxed, palletized munitions, score the fiber tube tape, stage individual munitions and handle the dunnage. Fiber tube will be fed onto the conveyor line.
Two personnel will break munitions outer tube open and sample multiple units. If no agent readings are detected, munitions are sent to the Reconfiguration Room by conveyor.
Reconfiguration is performed by removing propellant components from munitions and segregating into containers for disposal. Munitions bodies are then placed onto the transfer fixture to be taken to the ECR feed area.
Fuze is loaded onto the Defuze machine to be removed. Wastes are segregated and munitions are staged for repack and readied for enhanced reconfiguration.
APB PROCESSING:
Stage loaded munitions transport pallets for Munitions Washout System (MWS) feed and perform all forklift movements within the Agent Processing Building (APB) area. Ensure empty munitions transport pallets are removed from the loading area and properly positioned for the AGV to pick up for return to ERB. Leads ensure throughput for the MWS is maintained and ensures personnel are performing in accordance to applicable operating procedurs. Maintains the shift activity log for the APB feed area.
Stage loaded munitions transport pallets for MWS feed and perform all forklift movements within the APB area. Ensure empty munitions transport pallets are removed from the loading area and properly positioned for the AGV to pick up for return for AGV to return to ERB.
Provide door guard security for normal exclusion area access to APB feed area. Ensure personnel are limitations are not exceeded.
Load munitions, using lift assist if required, from munitions transport pallets onto the APB feed conveyor. Observe feed and support personnel during operations when personnel are involved in production duties this observer will complete line of sight surety requirements. Two personnel per operating line kept for munitions handling operations and buddy system to include reader-checker operations.
Support the surety requirement for the two-person rule. Ensure munitions transport pallets are moved from loading area when they are emptied. Maintain cleanliness of feed area.
Augment staff for ERB operations as needed. Provide relief to enable technicians to take breaks and not impact production.
Compensation & Benefits
STARTING RATE: $25.60 (This position is part of a certification pay program, which provides additional pay increases as necessary training and certifications are completed. On average, a minimum of two pay increases would be obtained within the first six months of employment.)

Minimum Requirements:
Basic Qualifications:
High school diploma/equivalent.
Must be a US Citizen or naturalized citizen able to obtain and maintain PCAPP site access.
Must be computer literate in common software applications and able to operate general office equipment.
Must be 18 years of age or older.
Must be willing to work overtime, varying hours and/or rotating shifts.
Must be willing and able to work in an industrial environment that is in close proximity to and/or in a chemical demilitarization facility.
Must be willing and able to be trained to operate forklift/forktruck or material handling lifting devices.
Must be willing and able to be at work when scheduled and maintain a good attendance record.
Must be willing and able to work in a procedurally compliant environment.
Must be willing and able to work in an environmental and safety compliant environment.
Must be willing and able to wear various levels of personal protective equipment and make entries into a chemical exclusion area or toxic area as needed.
