Job Description : Hawaiʻi Health & Harm Reduction Center (HHHRC) provides harm reduction-focused services to marginalized populations in Hawaiʻi, including people living with and/or affected by HIV, hepatitis, substance use, homelessness, and the transgender, LGBQ, and the Native Hawaiian communities. HHHRC bridges gaps and helps individuals access essential resources such as housing, health care, entitlements, and treatment. We foster health, wellness, and systemic change in Hawaiʻi and the Pacific through outreach, care services, advocacy, training, prevention, education, and capacity building.The Overdose Prevention Coordinator is responsible for the administration and programmatic oversight of HHHRC’s Overdose Prevention Program. The Overdose Prevention Coordinator will provide guidance, leadership, and management of all aspects of the program. This position will be part of the HHHRC management team and will coordinate with other HHHRC managers to fully integrate program services into the agency.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Program Coordination & Administration: Responsible for the administration and programmatic oversight of HHHRC’s Overdose Prevention program.Oversee HHHRC’s participation in the State’s Overdose Data to Action (OD2A) grant.Monitor and develop methods to ensure state and federal objectives are met.Conduct monthly reviews of the OD2A budget to ensure proper utilization of funds.Conduct quality checks on data collection and participates in the analysis of OD2A data.Conduct quality assurance and evaluation efforts to ensure program effectiveness.Communicate and coordinate with funders on programmatic outcomes.Participate in OD2A meetings and keep records of meeting agenda and minutes.Process and track all requests for Naloxone.Community Collaborations Represent the agency at coalition and other community meetingsIncrease the visibility of HHHRC and harm reduction through networking and collaborations.Develop collaborations and partnerships to further agency’s mission and vision.Trainings & Presentations: Conducts harm reduction, overdose prevention, and other presentations at meetings, trainings, and conferences, and as requested by outside agencies.Develop PowerPoint presentations, workshop curricula, and participant handouts on harm reduction.Advocacy: Promotes social justice for HHHRC participants and other marginalized people.Advocates for people HHHRC serves through legislative, policy, and systemic change which promotes HHHRC’s mission and vision.Other Responsibilities: Identify gaps and barriers in available community resources and advocate for systemic changes.Participate in activities to educate the community about the role and services of HHHRC.Maintain networks with agency-related community organizations and publicly represent HHHRC’s Overdose Prevention Program with relevant organizations and coalitions.Coordinate staff meetings and trainings with LGB&T Program and Capacity Building Manager.Be responsible to meet department productivity and quality goals.Represent the department at community meetings, agency fundraisers, and coalitions.Coordinate evaluation efforts and process analyses.Work as a team with other staff and support team members.Participate in supervision.Participate in agency committees.Maintain appropriate professional and ethical standards while serving as a representative of HHHRC.Comply with all policies and procedures of HHHRC Health & Safety Program and Quality Management Program.Comply with HHHRC confidentiality policy, HIPAA requirements, cultural competencies, and rights to persons served, as well as CARF standards.Perform additional duties as needed and assigned. Duties are subject to change.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred.Demonstrated experience and ability relevant to the responsibilities of the position.Relevant life experience and experience in HIV and/or viral hepatitis prevention, street-based outreach, and harm reduction preferred.Experience working in nonprofit sector and working with people who actively use drugs and people living with HIV and/or viral hepatitis preferred.Strong computer skills required, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, etc.).Excellent interpersonal, written, oral communication, and presentation skills.Excellent knowledge and understanding of harm reduction philosophy and strategies.Strong supervisory skills and experience.Ability to be flexible and self-motivated.Ability to foster healthy organizational culture, encourage teamwork and collaboration, and inspire and motivate staff.Must have the ability to handle difficult interactions with care, compassion, and assertiveness.Must have the confidence and ability to work independently.Ability to relate effectively to people from a wide variety of backgrounds.Must have a Hawaiʻi State driver’s license and clean three-year (3-year) driver’s abstract.Ability and willingness to perform to high standards.Non-judgmental attitude and the ability to respect the knowledge, actions, and feelings of others required.Demonstrated ability to work productively, both independently and as part of a team.Commitment to meeting or exceeding the goals of the organization.Ability to work well and thrive professionally in an atmosphere of significant diversity, working with marginalized populations.Willingness to work for a nonprofit organization.Understanding of, and agreement with, the mission of HHHRC.TRAVEL: Applicant must be willing and able to travel to neighbor islands or the continent for inspections, conferences, or work events.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Long hours sitting using office equipment and computers, which can cause muscle strain.Essential physical activities: standing, sitting, walking, finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, speaking, reaching above, at, and below shoulder, and frequent gripping of an object.Occasional physical activities: stooping, bending, squatting, twisting body, and lifting.Operates various office and medical equipment including personal computers.Occasional lifting of supplies/equipment and shipments (up to 30 pounds).Hawaiʻi Health & Harm Reduction Center provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local laws.
