Identify community needs and recommend appropriate programs. Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate a variety of recreation programs, which may include athletics, aquatics, recreation/leisure programs; youth programs; outdoor recreation programs, special events and software associated with recreation services. Market recreational services and programs by preparing marketing materials including social media, websites, facility public monitors, flyers and publication of seasonal brochures. Disseminate recreation and leisure service publicity. Interview, hire, train, and supervise full-time and part-time employees, contract workers, and volunteers. Assign and review work and evaluate performance. Process and monitor all contract employee payment invoices. Review and respond to reports from programming staff such as program evaluations, changes in water quality, incident reports, Rec Trac issues/needs and patron evaluations. Schedule and coordinate the use or rental of recreation and/or aquatic facilities by outside agencies, private groups, and individuals including schools and teams. Develop and conduct employee safety meetings; ensure compliance with state, county, and city health and safety standards (such as water testing at aquatic facilities); and maintain appropriate licenses and permits for assigned facilities and programs. Help in insuring PCI compliance in both training and practice. Meet with public groups, clubs, organizations, and agencies to explain and promote Recreation Services activities and programs to encourage community participation. Address customer service issues, complaints, and requests for information. Ensure programmatic and facility compliance with ADA requirements and address any concerns. Assist in ensuring all web information and postings are ADA compliant. Prepare bidding purchase requisitions; order equipment, supplies, and materials; secure contractors for programming. Coordinate credit card processing with provider. Prepare, maintain, control, and administer service area recreation budget including capital projects and equipment; prepares and submits monthly cost analysis. Solicit sponsorships and grants for programs, facilities and special events. Performs essential duties and additional tasks in a manner which enhances City Attributes.Working Environment: Work is performed in a standard office environment as well as at a variety of indoor and outdoor sites including ball fields, tennis courts, tracks, gymnasiums, swimming pools, etc. Requires ability to travel to and from recreational sites on short notice. Work involves some exposure to noise (crowds, whistles, buzzers), dust, chemicals, silica, and working around machinery and moving vehicles. Work requires exposure to extreme weather conditions. Must be able to work some evening, weekend and holiday hours. Be able to exercise sound judgment under stress and deal effectively with the public.Qualifications: Any combination of experience and education equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in recreation administration or a closely related field plus four or more years of increasingly responsible recreation program experience with emphasis in aquatic recreation programs and facilities; plus supervisory experience, or demonstrated skills/training in supervision. Special Qualifications: Possession of a valid Colorado driver’s license. CPR/PR, AED, and First Aid certifications.
