Position Summary
This job posting is for a fulltime research assistant at the Taub Institute. The successful candidate will primarily work on two ongoing national research collaborations that focus on understanding the causes and effects of Alzheimer’s disease and cognitive aging among middle-aged adults from diverse backgrounds.
Responsibilities
Main responsibilities include participant recruitment, screening, scheduling, collecting informed consent, and coordinating research visits (MRI scanning, lumbar punctures, blood draws, neuropsychological testing). Extensive training in the administration of standard and computerized neuropsychological and behavioral scales will be provided. The research assistant will be expected to enter participant data in a timely and diligent manner across multiple systems and platforms, ship biospecimen, maintain IRB/regulatory records, and attend regular team meetings to address study progression. As workload permits, there are opportunities for involvement in scholarly activities such as participation in seminars, case conferences, and manuscript preparation/co-authorship. Some flexibility in work schedule should be expected.
Minimum Qualifications
This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree and at least 1.5 years of related experience, or an equivalent in education, training and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior knowledge of or interest in aging and dementia would be useful. Preference will be given to candidates with past involvement in clinical trials, knowledge of EPIC, and experience with the NACC Uniform Data Set/similar cognitive testing.
Other Requirements
The successful applicant must have a background in psychology, neuroscience, or related field. Previous experience in clinical research coordination, subject evaluation, and management involving human research subjects is required. The applicant must have native fluency in English and Spanish and be able to communicate study-related materials and scientific content to the participants.
Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work independently under limited supervision. The ability to exercise sound judgement and discretion, maintain a high level of confidentiality, and proactively problem solve is essential. Must be highly organized, show enthusiasm and curiosity to learn, and be comfortable communicating effectively and professionally with coworkers and collaborators at various levels.
