Job Description : Job InformationOpen to the general public and any current Municipal employee.These positions are represented by the Public Employees Local 71 Union (L71) and are subject to the provisions of the current agreement between the Municipality of Anchorage and L71.DEPARTMENT: Parks and RecreationHOURS OF WORK: Days vary; 4:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.LOCATION: North Maintainence Shop 2839 Mt. View driveThese are seasonal, full-time (40 hours per week)_ positions, which will begin on April 18, 2022 and ends approximate 6 months from hire date._Example of DutiesMaintain the Municipality of Anchorage park land and facilities in a safe and useable condition for the general public to enjoy. The Parks Caretaker I is the first level in the park maintenance series. Perform routine park maintenance under general supervision. The distinction between this level and other levels of park maintenance workers is based upon the level and the complexity of duties performed and the degree of supervision received and exercised. Perform other related duties as assigned..Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / PreferencesSix (6) months experience in lawn, landscape, trails, construction, grounds, or facility maintenance.Must possess a valid State of Alaska driver’s license at time of hire.Preferences: Experience maintaining records and preparing reports.Experience maintaining positive customer relationsExperience in performing facility maintenance and housekeeping duties.Additional Important InformationIf selected for hire, applicant must be capable of bending, twisting, and kneeling. A background check encompasses criminal history, verifying education, and verifying dates of employment.Military Service Interview Preference:Veterans or who wish to be considered for interview preference as permitted in Municipal Personnel Rules 3.30.031 D must attach to the application a copy of their DD Form 214, DD Form 256, NGB Form 22, or a letter from the US Department of Veterans Affairs recognizing the person as a veteran. The attached documentation must show an honorable discharge or general (under honorable conditions) discharge. The minimum qualifications of the position must be met for preference consideration.Individuals currently serving as a member in good standing in the National Guard or the organized military reserves who wish to be considered for interview preference as permitted in Municipal Personnel Rules 3.30.031 D must attach proof of current service to the application. Proof of current service can be shown by submission of a statement of service which, at a minimum, shows full name, date of birth, Social Security Number, date service began, branch of service, rank, name of command providing the information, and unit of assignment.
