Starting out with a focus on politics, The Recount has already established itself as a wide-reaching and influential news brand on Twitter and other social sites, as well as launching a suite of successful podcasts. Now we’re training our sights on the corridors of power from Silicon Valley to Wall Street to Hollywood and beyond, while expanding aggressively into streaming and other new formats.
About the Role
Recount Media is looking for a Studio Operator to assist in production and live streaming content. Reporting to the Executive in Charge of Production, the Studio Operator will work with Recount’s Original Content team to assist in setting up, shooting, recording, features, short form videos, and will be the audio/studio operator for all live stream content.

This role will report directly to the Executive in Charge of Production
Annual compensation for this role is $60k – $70k
Responsibilities include:
Serves as Audio Operator and Robotic camera operator for 3-hour live broadcast
Assists in studio setup
Manages all audio components including wired and wireless microphone systems
Manages all primary and sub mixes including IFB and Intercom management
Assist Tech Manager with updating standard operating procedures and tracking maintenance needs
Assist with onsite shoots
Experience And Qualifications:
Knowledge in multi-source audio consoles, particularly SQ5
Experience with audio filters, IFB, compressors, consoles, noise reduction systems
Strong understanding of equalizers
Hands on experience with condenser microphones, wireless microphones, wireless receivers and transmitters
Experience in multi-source live production
Knowledge of recording techniques, microphone placement and staging
1-2 years of audio and camera operating experience
Knowledge of audio hardware, software and programming
Ability to think on your feet
Strong organizational and planning skills while working independently
Able to collaborate
Strong knowledge of live streaming events
