As an Activity Based Driver, you’ll drive, perform preventive maintenance, and be responsible for the content, condition, and security of cargo. You may also work as a Lead.

What is the work?
Transportation Operations:
Records all hours of service performed, as required by DOTMaintains mule / tractor / trailer equipment in accordance with prescribed preventive maintenance scheduleCompletes all required documents for load transporting, including vendors, store deliveries, bills of lading, etc.Monitors, documents, and controls refrigerated commodities requiring specific temperature settings / readingsMaintains responsibility for content and condition of cargo / commodity / product within trailer; ensures all cargo is securedUnloads trailer at Store deliveriesAdheres to accountability methods of receiving all products as purchased / loaded onto the trailer at pick-up time from vendorMaintains status as a qualified driver in compliance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR)Performs Delivery Driver and Local Driver dutiesWorks as Lead; provides direction / instruction for resolving issues in all business areas
What is your background?
High school diploma or equivalentMinimum age of 21 years
– 15,000 H-E-B miles of driving experience or certification as an H-E-B relief driver (internal); meet all required qualifications as a driver
2 years and 100,000 miles of driving experience (external)Maintain status as an FMCSR-qualified driverNever had a suspended or revoked driver licenses, permits, or privileges in any state / countyDocumented proof of a good driving record; applicants chosen to be interviewed must obtain a Life History MVR from the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS)-see below for instructions. * NOTE: Police reports will be requested on an applicant whose MVR record reflects an accident
– 3-year clear MVR; record will be reviewed for preventability, based on H-E-B standards
No more than 1 moving violation within the last 3 years (none in past 12 months)Successful passing of Dept of Transportation (DOT) physical, DOT drug screen, background check, and verification of work history
Do you have what it takes to be a fit as an H-E-B Driver?
Knowledge of the English language (according to Regulation 398.3 (c)(4), ‘Every driver shall be able to read and speak the English language sufficiently to understand highway traffic signs and signals and
directions given in English and to respond to officials’ inquiries’)
Proficiency in DOT, local, state, and federal laws and regulations, and company safety policiesAbility to pass a Department of Transportation physical and drug screen, and meet all DOT driver qualificationsAbility to manage multiple priorities and shift focus between tasks in a fast-paced, unsupervised environment; attention to detailAbility to work weekends, nights, and holidays
