Job Description : Position Description Thrift Store ManagerSummary: This position is responsible for the day-to day business operations and management of the New LifeFurniture Bank Thrift Store, including: staff and volunteer supervision, customer care, financial oversight and cash handling procedures, attaining sales goals, setting standards for loss prevention, team building, donation process and visual merchandising. Overall the Thrift Store Manager is responsible for the efficiency of store operations and ensuring a great shopping experience for store patrons.Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Develop and implement written procedures for store operations, including opening and closing the store, procedures for accepting sorting, pricing donations, security procedures for staff and volunteers, handling of cash and other relevant procedures as needed.Oversee the processing of donated items, manage the rotation of items in the disposal of donated items in a timely fashion. Process includes sorting, hanging, tagging, displaying and disposing of donated items.Schedule, supervise, train, and assist employees in customer service, store maintenance and product placement and promotions.Open and close store as neededSeek ways to better promote the store, the product and service within the storeMaintain proper inventory and sales promos to increase top line salesImplement cross training of employees and assistant managers to always maintain productivityManage all controllable costs with a view of maintaining profitabilityEnsure the store always remains clean and presentableHire, recruit, and train as needed to ensure adequate staffing is on hand to provide customer service.Ensure communication channels are open to the organizationQualifications: High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education required. Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent preferred.Proactive in store planning skillsA self-motivated leadershipGood interpersonal communication skillsStrong sales abilitiesPhysical ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.Excellent communication and customer service skills required.Ability to exercise good judgment and sound decision-making required.Strong organizations skillsBasic technology skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Windows operating systems and ability/willingness to learn other database management systems.Competencies: Ethical ConductDecision-Making/Problem-SolvingCustomer ServiceCommunication ProficiencyPhysical Demands: While performing the functions of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk or hear; frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and occasionally required to climb or balance, Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.Work Environment: 1 of 2While performing the functions of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, outdoor weather conditions including extreme heat or cold weather; occasionally exposed to work in high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals.
