Job Description : JOB SUMMARY DUTIES4 Seasons Marine is looking for a full-time seasonal Captain. The company operates 3 high speed ferries that service Haines and Skagway in S.E. Alaska.All Skagway -based vessels are rated to carry up to 172-passengers, and they typically operate with a 3-person crew: a captain, a lead deckhand, a naturalist/Deckhand. Employee must be able to relocate to Skagway, AK and complete the end of season. Apr 25 thru Sept 28th. Employee will be provided employee housing at a reasonable daily rate. Roughly $100 per month with private bedroom and shared kitchen/bath.Job duties include:Handle the vessel in docking, piloting, en route, in close quarters and open sea conditionsPerform routine maintenance checks and keeps records of jobs performed.Preventative maintenance programs on daily, weekly, and monthly basis.Complete maintenance and repair tasks as requested.Ensure vessel compliance to company safety and pollution prevention policies and procedures and requests supervisory assistance/guidance when necessary.Manage deckhands.Ensure safety of all passengers.QUALIFICATIONS;Minimum of 5 years experience as either Captain or 1stMate on passenger-carrying vessels.Extensive experience in the operations of vessels in waters as diverse as Southeast Alaska,Ability to perform voyage planning and navigational calculations.Excellent crisis management skills; works well under pressure, and acts quickly and decisively using sound judgment.Supervisory experience in maritime environment required.Contract Length:5 – 6 monthsFull Time Opportunity:YesJob Type: ContractPay: $30.00 – $33.00 per hourSchedule:10 hour shiftExperience:captain: 3 years (Preferred)License/Certification:100 ton inland (Required)Work Location: One location
