Position : Accelerator Programs Manager
Job Description : With a top-ranked entrepreneurship program, the Rollins Center for Entrepreneurship & Technology (CET) provides academic coursework, support, and other services to nearly one in six BYU students, motivating them to engage in entrepreneurial activity regardless of their particular major or career path.
The Accelerator Programs Manager is responsible for the success of our startup accelerator programs, which provide early-stage student entrepreneurs the resources and mentorship needed to promote and grow their products and ideas. Sandbox is an immersive, one-year program where students get school credit building products and startups.
Essential Functions
PROGRAM MANAGEMENT AND STRATEGY
Establish strategy for development, growth, improvement, and execution of the accelerator programs
Lead the day-to-day non-academic operation of accelerator programs including budget expenditures, hiring of student employees, selection of and oversight of 50+ volunteer mentors, arranging guest speakers, collecting and analyzing updates from teams, and growing the external community
Responsible for identifying and acquiring resources from across campus and from industry partners to support the program – facilities, mentors, technology, grants
Lead innovation to expand the number of students participating in our accelerator programs, developing student pipelines, etc.
Mentor student startups on growth, product-market fit, hiring and firing decisions, fundraising, and connect to other mentors who are industry experts
External network building by recruiting university and industry partners to support the accelerator programs in conjunction with faculty overseeing the courses
Ensure accelerator programs – from the application process to the final demo day with investors – are delivered correctly and on schedule
Measure accelerator programs impact including job placement and receiving venture investments. Oversee student data visualizations then implementing changes based on the data
PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT
Recruit, hire and lead a team of students to execute the day-to-day operations of accelerator programs
Work with student clubs associated with the Accelerator programs
Responsible for supervising the volunteer support network – roughly 50+ volunteers
Education/Experience
Minimum education/experience required: Bachelor’s degree and 7 years of experience in a high-growth company (either as a founder or early employee) or equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred: Experience launching a startup including a successful exit, experience with startup accelerators/incubators
