Job Description : Do you have a desire to support the vulnerable? Adult Protective Services (APS) seeks individuals to join our team as an APS Case Aide. As a case aide, you will assist a team of investigators who investigate allegations of abuse, neglect, and exploitation of vulnerable adults (those unable to defend themselves), 18 years of age or older, by requesting and collecting records, delivering items, and other activities to support investigations. This is an ideal position for someone who is highly motivated, enjoys working independently in the field, and can provide comfort and resources to those who need help. In addition, there is an opportunity to be promoted to field investigator for those who want to grow within APS. You may interact with adults and family members in their home or care facilities in addition to law enforcement, medical offices, banks, and other entities that may have information about a case. Job Duties:
Assists with a variety of casework activities following verbal and written instructions.Documents, prepares, and enters clear and detailed documentation notes into database and maintains documentation and files.Makes trips delivering items and safely driving vulnerable and incapacitated adults, 18 years of age or older, when needed.
Assists in making observations and gathers information about clients.Provides referrals for community resources and support services and makes emergency purchases for clients.Responds to inquiries from clients, vendors, etc.
Prepares a wide variety of client documents.Performs general support activities when needed.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):
Knowledge of:
General office proceduresSentence structure including spelling, composition, and grammarCustomer service techniquesGeneral safety concepts
Skill in:
Oral and written communicationTime management and organizationUsing computer software packages (e.g., Excel, Word, Google Suite, etc.) and accurately inputting information
Ability to:
Learn, follow and adhere to APS policies, procedures, and practicesLearn basic social services, public program eligibility and assist the frail elderly and individuals with diminished mental capabilitiesSet priorities to plan and manage a varied workloadSafely operate a motor vehicle
Selective Preference(s):
Prefer 1 year of entry-level general office/administrative experience or working with or assisting individuals in a community setting, (e.g., community involvement with individuals in aging and adult, developmental disabilities, etc.).

Pre-Employment Requirements:
Flexibility in willingness to work longer shift hours or after-hours coverage, if necessary.Candidates for this position shall be subject to a search of both the Child Protective Services Central Registry pursuant to A.R.S. 8-804 and the Adult Protective Services Registry pursuant to A.R.S. 46-459.A.R.S. 41-1968 Employee shall have a valid, unrestricted Level One fingerprint clearance card issued pursuant to Arizona Revised Statute 41-1758.07 in order to work with children and vulnerable adults, prior to the start of their employment.In-state travel is required. The position will require the possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.11). Individuals may be required to use their personal motor vehicle in rare situations.Successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify), applicable to all newly hired State employees.
Successfully pass background and reference checks; employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions.

**Critical Services Premium Pay Stipend
This position may be eligible to receive a temporary stipend of 10% in addition to base pay beginning in December 2021. If eligible, the temporary stipend amount will be calculated using the employee’s base rate of pay and will be reflected in each paycheck. It is anticipated that this temporary stipend will be available through June 24, 2022.

Retirement:
State employees are required to participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS), the State sponsored retirement contribution plan and the Long-Term Disability (LTD) program after a 27-week waiting period. The ASRS defined benefit plan provides for life-long income upon retirement. You will also have the option to participate in a voluntary deferred compensation program to take advantage of tax-deferred retirement investments.
