Summary

This position is responsible for leading a small group (typically 3 to 7 locations) of store managers. Leads multiple store managers and adjusts sales goals and procedures as appropriate for the store based on goals set by the Sr. Director of Stores. Area Managers are responsible for retail store manager training, staffing, labor matrix, implementing programs and assignments from corporate and financial accountabilities.

Leadership and Management
Establish high standards for management performance and set clear expectations for store managers.
Communicate and ensure compliance with all company policies and directives.
Maintain a principled level of business ethics and integrity.
Meet or exceed area financial projections and enhance revenue opportunities.
Demonstrate strong organizational and time leadership skills through compliance with operational

directives.
Identify and implement labor management tools to schedule optimally and to increase efficiency,

profitability and margins while adhering to all applicable federal, state and local laws governing store

operations.
Deliver a high level of operational excellence including store appearance, loss prevention, cash

handling, inventory control, visual merchandising, and safety and security of people and assets.
Maintain high leadership standards to achieve successful management development.
Lead by example and empower sales associates to create an exceptional guest experience.
Manage and develop guest service skills of each manager to ensure each guest receives friendly service

upon each visit to the location.
Recruitment, Development and Retention of Talent
Supervise store manager function identified in area and provide specific and timely feedback through coaching and corrective action to improve personal and area performance.
Assess and develop talent within the team for future growth.
Staff locations appropriately with friendly and positive sales associates for seasonal hiring.
Maintain compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment.
Performs other incidental and related duties as required.

Education/Experience

High School diploma required
Bachelor’s degree preferred or 4 years of retail management experience in lieu of degree
Leading multi-unit locations preferred
Must be proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, Internet Microsoft Office, POS and general digital literacy
Flexible work schedule (which may include nights, weekends, holidays and long hours) and regular attendance is vital
Travel is required
Desire to succeed in a high growth, fast-paced retail environment

Title: Area Sales Manager

Salary Range: $85,000 – $95,000
