This job bulletin will focus on two specialized areas within the Child, Youth and Family Division: Intake Child Protection Caseworker and Ongoing Child Protection Caseworker.Please watch our job preview video before applying: https://co4kids.org/careersResponsibilitiesSpecifically, this position:Will be responsible for extensive case documentation in the state database meeting mandated requirements and preparing court reports.Assesses allegations of child abuse/neglect and monitors the risk/safety of children/youth. This involves having difficult, truthful, and extensive conversations with family, their supports, and community professionals.Collaborates with law enforcement, schools, medical personnel, mental health agencies, and other service providers.Treatment planning with families and their supports to address the safety/risk concerns for children.Advocates for families and children, testify in court, and de-escalates potentially volatile situations.Requires daily travel to family homes for home visits and within the community. This can be within and outside of Larimer County.The ability to work in the field, office, remotely and testify in court.Will discuss in detail and work with families dealing with substance abuse, mental health, domestic violence, multi-generational poverty, child abuse/neglect and sexual abuse.To view the full job description, visit https://www.larimer.org/hr/careers/job-descriptionsThe ideal candidate will:Have critical thinking skills to make difficult decisions, based on safety concerns removing a child from their home may be necessary.Have a flexible schedule due to frequent late evening hours for home visits, crisis situations, and family meetings. The hours of the position can be unpredictable.Communicate professionally through written documentation as well as verbally.Teamwork with supervisors, peers, family members, and community professionals. Participation in individual and group supervision.QualificationsDepending on qualifications, this position may be hired as a Social Case Worker I or II.All candidates will be screened for the following required minimum qualifications. Any candidate who does not meet all of the qualifications listed as required will be eliminated from the process.Social Caseworker I Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in a human behavioral sciences field is required. Examples of degree titles include Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Criminal Justice, and Human Development/Family Studies.Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Driver’s License required.Social Caseworker II Qualifications:One (1) year experience as a Social Caseworker I with Larimer County, or as a professional social caseworker in either a public or private agency, after obtaining a qualifying degree required. A Master’s Degree in an appropriate field as defined below may substitute for experience.Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in a human behavioral sciences field is required.
