Job Description : Job Description: The Pennsylvania House of Representatives Republican Caucus is looking for a talented PR Coordinator to join our Outreach/Comms team in Harrisburg, PA. The ideal candidate is someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, who can collaborate with the team and who has a desire to learn the ins and outs of strategic communications in a politically charged atmosphere. The position will support the daily media/social media outreach operation for the Caucus members and Outreach/Comms team, reporting to the Regional Manager and Regional Supervisor. The position includes researching, tracking coverage, compiling media coverage reports, social media posting and writing various outreach materials.Responsibilities: Develop, implement and evaluate strategic outreach plans for assigned members.Work with regional outreach manager and assigned team to craft effective messages and develop media strategies using television, radio, email, social media and printed materials.Produce of all written communications materials for members’ public outreach efforts including, but not limited to, press releases, media advisories, mailers, emails, speeches and letters to the editor in a timely fashion.Arrange interviews and editorial meetings with key journalists and facilitate these meetings where appropriate.Prepare members for media appearances and interviewsManage members’ social media activity and review analytics reports on social media (when available), reporting on traffic, engagement and follower figures.Update assigned members’ media contact lists.Knowledge/Experience/Competencies: Bachelor’s Degree in public relations, communications, political science or other relevant course of studyExperience a plus (work or internship in corporate, not-for-profit or government oriented public relations)Excellent and well-developed written and verbal communication skills, with ability to think conceptually, strategically and creativelyAbility to explain complex issues, write well on deadline and multi-task are musts. Understanding of AP style.Candidate must have ability to research diverse media and target messages in a news-oriented styleStrategic thinker, innovative problem solver, autonomous worker, self-starter who is comfortable being deadline drivenAverage to high comfort level with technology and communicating via new media channelsSome level of familiarity with state government is definitely a plusGreat people skillsAdditional Details: Compensation commensurate with experience. Benefits package includes comprehensive health insurance, paid leave and holidays. Position is full-time, typical work week.
