Job Description : Class Summary
The objective of the Gwinnett County District Attorney’s Office is to provide fair, effective, and expeditious investigation and prosecution of criminal offenses within the County.
This class is responsible for the comprehensive review of cases received from various law enforcement agencies. The investigator primarily analyzes and reduces each report to a condensed, informative summary of facts that outline the elements of the applicable crime(s) and identifies the strengths and weaknesses of each case. Additionally, the investigator will assist prosecutors with preparing cases for trial and will periodically be assigned more complex, high profile investigations that require a full understanding of the criminal laws of this state, as well as investigative methods and techniques used to resolve those cases.
This job is a safety-sensitive position that will require a pre-employment drug test and subsequent random drug and alcohol testing in accordance with Gwinnett County Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace
The Grade for this position is DA15.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be P.O.S.T. Certified Peace Officer,
Valid Driver’s License in State of residency;
High School Diploma, or G.E.D.,
Five or more years of experience as a police officer, including Investigative experience,
Or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Five or more years of investigative experience
GA P.O.S.T. Instructor Certification
Advanced or specialized training in one or more of the following units:
major felonies
narcotics
gangs
SVU

Employees can choose a contribution rate of 5.0% or 7.5%Gwinnett County will contribute 7.0% of your pensionable earnings per pay period. An employee is fully vested in 5 years. An employee can retire if he/she has reached the age of 55 and the sum of his/her age and years of service equals 65. Deferred Compensation Plan
If you contribute at least 3% of your base pay to the 457(b) plan, Gwinnett County will contribute an additional 1% to your Defined Contribution Retirement Plan (this is in addition to the 7% described above).
