Job Description : Who are we hiring?
The Director Celebrity Relations position is integral to the MSG Entertainment and MSG Sports strategies for developing, fostering and managing the companies’ celebrity relationships. The position will work to research, identify and invite celebrities to a myriad of MSG events – including Knicks and Rangers games, Radio City Christmas Spectacular, Special events, Garden of Dreams events, Opening Nights and any additional company initiatives. The Director contributes to the cultivating of relationships with celebrities, agents, managers, publicists and celebrity assistants, and ensures that all talent relationships are mutually beneficial in terms of visibility, branding, positioning and/or ticket sales. The position is also heavily involved in celebrity hospitality during events, ensuring a positive experience for both celebrity and company. Position works with VP Events & Celebrity Relations on overall strategy with and is crucial to the development and execution of the department’s database, outreach, engagement and reporting functions. The Director will be expected to oversee data tracking and reporting on celebrity engagements, as well as maintaining a company-held database of contacts and details.
What will you do?
Partner on strategy for initiating and developing relationships with celebrities, agents, talent managers, publicists, and celebrity assistants.
Develop targeted plans for celebrity invitations to Knicks and Rangers games, as well as other priority MSG events.
Develop targeted plan for influencer relationships to enhance MSG brand’s awareness in key demographics as well as working on special projects in the influencer space for brands, partners and company goals.
Work with the team to develop effective business metrics to gauge progress and identify opportunity areas.
Strategically identify and attend events or industry gatherings to maximize and foster relationships.
Act as key liaison with celebrities for company events.
Build and maintain celebrity database and research new areas of celebrity access.
Establish and enforce processes for providing a consistent guest experience, as well as ensuring proper compliance and data capture.
Mentor celebrity relations junior staff and VIP Event Specialists to develop a team with strong talent management skills.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB:
Reachable by phone and email on nights and weekends
What do you need to succeed?
Experience in working with high profile celebrities and executives as a company representative.
Calm demeanor and ability to handle “big” personalities.
Significant “big event” experience with at least 5-10 years’ experience, preferred.
Deep understanding of entertainment, sports and culture, as well as development and execution using talent for content creation.
Office and/or event/production experience.
Ability to interact and take direction from senior executives, artists, promoters and managers
Extremely organized.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to multi task on various projects and on a multitude of events.
Excellent people skills.
Strong written and verbal communication.
Flexibility to work extended hours, weekends and holidays as needed.
