Job Description : Director of Tennis and Racquet SportsFLSA Status: ExemptDepartment: RacquetsReports to: AssistantGeneral ManagerGeneral Purpose: Designs, plans and executes tennis and racquet programs to include special events and clinics.Essential Duties: Supervises all tennis play along with all other racquet sports including Pickleball and machine rentals.Works diligently with the Assistant Tennis Professional to develop the overall success of all racquet activities.Initiates, directs, and promotes all racquet clinics and programs to attract and maintain members’ interests.Develops, implements, and supervises lesson programs provided by instructors for all Members and GuestsSupervises the activities of program participants to ensure participant safety during the instructional process; follows appropriate emergency procedures to protect the well-being of participants.Enforces all club rules and regulations governing the use of the club/facility, its equipment and other property.Prepares a monthly calendar of events.Works cooperatively with other departments to develop combined programs for the membership.Ensures proper inspection of the courts/facilities daily prior to the start of play and ascertain that all necessary maintenance has been performed and the courts are in a safe working order.Reports any maintenance problems to the facilities maintenance department.Monitors court usage including special events, clinics, and lessons.Responsible for interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work, evaluating performance, rewarding, and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.Manages department members that may include, but is not limited to: Instructors, desk staff, and court maintenance staff.Assures that effective orientation and training are given to each new associate. Develops ongoing training programs.Monitors business volume forecast and plans accordingly in areas of manpower, productivity, costs and other expenses.Responsible for implementing and maintaining excellent service to achieve member satisfaction.Regular and reliable attendance.Education/Experience: Associate degree (AA); and three to five years related experience as a head tennis professional/ Racquets instruction; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Physical Demands: Frequently stands, walks, uses hands; talks and hears, reaches with hands and arms, climbs, balances; stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls. Occasionally sits. Regularly lifts up to 10 pounds and occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds.Environment/Noise: Frequently works in outdoor weather conditions. Noise level is moderate.Certificates/Licenses: CPR, First Aid Certification, Teaching Certification required: USTA to include Tennis, Pickleball and other Racquet SportsJob Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Preferences Ability to read and speak English in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g. the associates are required to communicate with English speaking customers or co-workers, the manuals for the equipment the associates may use are in English).Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.Possess U.S.T.A. rating of 5.0 or better.Computer skills proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)This job description is not an exclusive or exhaustive list of all job functions that an associate in this position may be asked to perform from time to time.May perform accounts receivable and accounts payable functions to include but not limited to: processing invoices, preparing statements, making payments, collections, reconciliation, and record keeping.Maintains, reconciles and audits petty cash, general bank account and cash banks. Monitors regular bank deposits and reconciles all bank statements.May serve as the property specialist/contact on matters relating to computer applications, procurement, annual and special audits, insurance and/or human resources.May perform other duties as assigned or neededEducation/Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and three to five years of secretarial experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous experience working for senior level manager and/or supporting multiple managers.Physical Demands: Typical office environment, occasionally stands and walks, frequently sits. Typically requires routine use of personal computer and general office equipment.Environment/Noise: Noise level is moderate.Certificates/Licenses: No certifications or licenses are required.Job Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Preferences Ability to read and speak English in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g. the associates are required to communicate with English speaking customers or co-workers, the manuals for the equipment the associates may use are in English).Exceptional organizations skills; maintains accuracy and neatness; ability to multitask.Intermediate to advanced computer skills including, but not limited to, use of Microsoft Word and Excel.Ability to accurately type at least 50 words per minute.Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
