Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Director of Education Abroad, the Education Abroad Advisor independently provides comprehensive study abroad advising for students, assists with coordinating Education Abroad programs and services, and assists with recruiting and marketing strategies for CSULB education abroad programs.

Key Responsibilities
Student Advising-Advise students on all aspects of a broad range of education abroad programs, including academic year, semester, and short-term faculty-led study abroad programs as well as internship, volunteer, service learning, and work opportunities.
Program Coordination-Assist with planning and implementation of Education Abroad programs and events. Assist with the maintenance of records and act as a liaison with other CSULB offices (e.g., Enrollment Services, Financial Aid, Career Development Center), and international exchange partners.
Program Marketing and Recruitment-Assist with Education Abroad program marketing (including Study Abroad Fairs, information sessions and panels, website, data bases, and social media).
Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Study abroad student advising experience at a college or university. Knowledge of a variety of university study abroad programs including exchange programs. Familiarity with non-U.S. transfer credit processes and university curriculum. Knowledge of scholarship options for study abroad (preferred but not required). International study, work, volunteer, or travel experience (preferred but not required). Experience with Terra Dotta data base system (preferred but not required). Experience with Microsoft Office. Experience with PeopleSoft Common Management System (CMS) preferred.

Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university’s commitment to a “vision of excellence.”

Education and Experience

Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration, or a job-related field and two years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas required.

Compensation

The targeted salary may be set as high as $4,758 per month based on experience.
