Given Etsy’s significant growth over the past few years, we are looking for an Employee Relations Manager to help Etsy enhance and maintain processes to fairly and confidently navigate complex employee relations situations.
The Employee Relations Manager will help navigate complex ER situations and lead investigations as they arise. You will partner closely with HRBPs, Employment Counsel, Communications, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion and others to help navigate challenging situations, while demonstrating objective decision making and deep subject matter expertise.
**Please note, this is an Individual Contributor role with no direct reports at this time.**
This is a full-time position reporting to the Director, HR Business Partner. For this role, we are considering candidates based in the United States who are either remote, flex, or office-based. What’s this team like at Etsy?
This is a new role to Etsy and this person will help define and build the employee relations team at Etsy while helping to implement & maintain a new case tracking system.
This role will work closely with the HR Business Partner and Employment Counsel teams.
What does the day-to-day look like
Reviewing, advising and resolving critical employee concerns and investigations, including interpersonal conflict, employee complaints, and allegations of harassment, discrimination, and retaliation in a timely manner.
Conducting complex and critical employee investigations along with our legal partners, including determining appropriate investigation strategies, leading witness interviews and any required document review, and determining findings and recommendations for appropriate resolution.
Partner with HRBPs, Legal, Communications, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion and others to advise and implement thorough investigations.
Where applicable, draft well-written investigation-related documents, including leader/HRBP talking points, written warnings and other documents with little supervision.
Collaborate with HRBPs and Managers to address performance issues and provide direction on next steps as needed.
Effectively and accurately maintains confidential ER data & documentation
Develop & iterate on existing employee relations policies and processes including performance improvement plans and investigations
Keep abreast of market conditions and guarantees adherence with all federal, state and local employment laws
Design and conduct multiple employee relations trainings for managers and leaders throughout the year
Implement & maintain case tracking system
Assist with the data reporting and analytics of ER cases for themes, trends and root causes to provide insights and recommendations for decision making and prevention of ER risk.

Qualifications
Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are:
Minimum of 7+ years Employee Relations experience
Experience leading a wide variety of complex employee investigations with little supervision
Excellent decision making, problem solving, critical thinking and writing skills
Advanced understanding of employment and HR related laws, regulations, policies, principles, concepts and practices, including Title VII, ADA, ADAA, and FMLA.
Ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential matters with compassion and equity.
Ability to work collaboratively, lead and influence at all levels within the organization, and make decisions while keeping all partners and leaders informed
Ability to manage multiple projects with strong time management and prioritization skill
